This photo is from the last time I went to Mumbai in 2012. Dad and I decided to go to the Ajanta Ellora Caves there. Just the two of us (as it has always been with each other). We spent 6-7 hours together admiring the caves, the sculptures, the views, the one hour boat ride and the peace we felt in that half day. He was so happy to spend this time with me. Yesterday it was his second death anniversary. Mumbai is going to be different from now on. But I will always have this photo to remind me of the moments and memories we created together on that day.

Discovering the Magic of Analog Photography

I'm thrilled to share a piece of my journey with you all today. As a photographer, I've recently delved into the enchanting world of analog photography, and let me tell you, it's been an absolute game-changer.

The process of shooting on film is a stark contrast to digital photography. It's a slower, more deliberate approach that demands patience and precision. But oh, the beauty that lies within this process is truly unparalleled.

Spending time with the film, carefully framing each shot, and eagerly awaiting the results have become some of my most cherished moments behind the lens. There's something incredibly special about being fully present in the moment while shooting, knowing that each frame is precious and finite.

And then comes the moment of revelation—the unveiling of the contact sheet. It's a moment filled with anticipation and excitement, akin to unwrapping a gift on Christmas morning. Seeing my images come to life in this tangible format for the first time is nothing short of magical.

It's in these moments that my love for photography is reignited, again and again. The slow-burn gratification, the intimate connection to the craft, and the sheer joy of creation—all captured within a single contact sheet.

Here's to falling in love with photography, over and over again.

Attending the India Art Fair 2024 was an exhilarating experience that left a lasting impact on my perspective as a photographer. The event was a melting pot of diverse and contemporary arts, but three highlights stood out for me, making it a truly fruitful experience.

The first highlight was immersing myself in the captivating world of Raghu Rai's images. His mastery of capturing moments and emotions through the lens is truly awe-inspiring. His book 'Trees,' published by Photoink, showcased his ability to turn ordinary subjects into extraordinary visual stories. Rai's work not only left a visual imprint on me but also the only photographic reason I am a photographer now!

The second highlight was the opportunity to admire the work of Dayanita Singh. Her images are a testament to her unique vision and storytelling prowess. The way she weaves narratives through her photographs is both thought-provoking and visually stunning. Experiencing Singh's artistry at the India Art Fair added a layer of richness to my understanding of Indian photography.

However, the most personal and emotional highlight was reconnecting with Ajay Rajgarhia after 13 years. Our paths crossed initially during a college photography competition that I co-hosted for the photography society 'Clicks,' which I co-founded. Ajay Sir was the judge for two competitions, and I was 19 years old then. Knowing nothing about photography. He was the first photographer I met when I was just starting in my college years back in 2010. Meeting him again after more than a decade was an incredible experience, filled with reminiscences and a shared passion for photography. It was heartwarming to see and talk with him again.

The India Art Fair not only exposed me to the brilliance of established photographers like Raghu Rai and Dayanita Singh but also provided a meaningful reunion with a mentor like Ajay Rajgarhia. These three highlights collectively made the event a milestone in my artistic journey, leaving me inspired, motivated, and eager to explore new horizons in the world of photography.
