A step up from the Canon EOS 200D / Rebel SL2, the new 250D/SL3 camera will feature a 24.1MP APS-C sensor with the company's latest Digic 8 processor. It boasts an "evolved" Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus system, with 3,975 AF positions and 100% vertical by 88% horizontal coverage.

The 250D will be able to shoot 4K video in 24p / 25p, though we suspect that this will be without Dual Pixel AF (as has been the case in Canon's other entry level cameras with 4K). That said it will feature eye detection in Movie Servo AF mode (as well as Servo AF stills), as well as “4K frame cutout” to extract an 8MP JPG from a video file.

In Europe it will be called the Canon EOS 250D, in North American it will be known as the Canon Rebel SL3, while it will be titled the 200D in Asia, the 200D II in Southeast Asia, and the Kiss X10 in Japan.

What is (OCF) Off-camera Flash Photography?

OCF photography is the use of an external flash unit when it is NOT physically connected (mounted) to a camera body. With OCF a photographer has full control over quantity, quality and direction of light.

Where is OCF Photography used?

It is used in almost every field of photography where photographers need to control and vary the Direction, Quantity and Quality of light to achieve their desired result.

What gear is required for OCF Photography?

A DSLR camera with a hot shoe and Manual mode ability
An external flash with variable power control, with swivelling head & slave function.

A way of triggering (firing) the flash remotely (via cable, optical or wireless/radio)

A grey card (cheap) or a flash meter (less cheap) to help determine correct exposure
A sturdy tripod for the camera
A light stand with a mount for locating a flash
A light modifier like a shoot-through/reflective umbrella or a softbox

Who Is the OCF Flash Photography Workshop perfect for?

Those who are familiar with/adept at manual operations of their camera

Those who know how f/stops (aperture) and shutter speeds work and how they are interrelated
Those who are familiar with terms like White Balance, Grey Cards and Histograms

Ambient light photographers who want to add to their skill set

NOTE
This is NOT a workshop for mobile phone photographers. This workshop is for those who are familiar with a DSLR camera. It is not meant for absolute beginners who may have only just purchased their first camera. For novice photographers there is a workshop on “Getting To Grips with Digital Photography”.
