"My name is Nikhila Ramesh and I'm a yoga practitioner. I am a certified yoga teacher in Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow Yoga (Sampoorna Yoga, India-Costa Rica)
When I started my yoga journey in 2015, little did I know that I would end up teaching it some day. What started as a means to get flexible to indulge more in contemporary dance, became a way of life for me. Flexibility turned into maximising the optimal functioning of my body in my day-to-day life. But it doesn't stop there. For me, yoga is much more than practicing asanas, it's a more holistic approach where mind over body always prevails.
What started as a hobby, turned into something more significant, and yoga became my go-to place for connecting with myself. I soon decided to take the plunge and get myself certified. It wasn't something that I had planned to do, but it surely was my calling. During the journey of completing my certification, I dabbled with taking yoga lessons for my family and friends. That really changed the way I looked at yoga as a practice. I explored making scripts for guided meditations, I focused on Pranayama and breathing as a whole, and felt a tinge of fresh air consuming my consciousness, every time I did it.
My specialization is in Vinyasa yoga. Why Vinyasa, you ask? Because it flows in a seamless manner, uses a lot of strength and yet is very calming, much like my 6 year journey to getting here. I can let my creativity flow as there are infinite ways to sequence a session. With creative, meditative and intelligent sequencing, every sequence stimulates my body, breath, mind and brain. But more importantly, it helps me express myself through yoga. And it has a dance like quality, which is what brought me to yoga in the first place."
