Habitat: It's a winter migrant in India, prefers quite shallow fresh waterbodies with rich submerged and floating vegetation with dense stands of emergent vegetation on the margins.
Food Habit: They feed mainly by diving or dabbling. They mostly eat aquatic plants, some times mollusks, aquatic insects.

INTERESTING FACT
Ferruginous Pochard and Tuffted ducks often gets confused without mature adult colouration, but can be easily identified by Eye colour, both tuffted duck male and female have yellow eyes, but this male have pale white eye while females have black eyes.

Food Habit: They feed mainly by diving or dabbling. They eat aquatic plants, and typically upend for food more than most diving ducks.

INTERESTING FACT
The red-crested pochard is one of the species to which the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) applies.

Habitat: It's a winter migrant in India, found in large water bodies and freshwater wetlands with long vegetation to remain concealed, also can be found in coastal lagoons and shorelines.

Food Habit: Fresh water mussels are their favorite food along with other molluscs, aquatic insects and plants.

Habitat: It's a winter migrant in India, found in freshwater wetlands with long vegetation, like taiga grass or small lakes and ponds with extensive reedbeds and inlets and lagoons along sea shore.
Food Habit: It varies in seasons, while they prefer grainivorous diet like aquatic grass, plants, seeds in winter, in breeding seasons it has been recorded to consume aquatic invertebrates & larvae of mollusks.

"COMMON MERGANSER";
(Scientific name: Mergus merganser).
Conservation status: LEAST CONCERN
Habitat: The common merganser is equally at home in salt and fresh water. In larger streams and rivers, they float down with the current for a few miles and either fly back or, more commonly, fish their way back, diving all the way.
Food Habit: In addition to fish, they take a wide range of other aquatic prey, such as molluscs, crustaceans, worms & insect larvae. 

INTERESTING FACT:
I) They often fish in a group, forming a semicircle and driving the fish into shallow water, where they are easy to catch.
II) These ducks are known to form crèches, with single females having been observed with over 70 ducklings at one time.

"INDIAN VULTURE"; (Sci name: Gyps indicus)
Pale whitish feathers with black neck and whitish tip of beak distinguish it from Eurasian griffon or slender billed vulture.
"RED HEADED VULTURE"; (Sci name: Sacrogyps calvus)
Dark coloured feathers with white feather around neck, can be easily identified by bare red head and cere.
Red headed vulture: 2500-10000 in the wild in 2021.
Indian vulture: 5000-15000 in the in 2002.
Conservation status: CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
Habitat: It can be found in various land-forms ranging from semi-desert to dry foot hills, open fields and cultivated land. Though they are not migratory, they can travel hundreds of miles scavenging for food. Generally nest on cliffs or high buildings. Red headed vulture can be found upto an altitude of 3000m.
Food Habit: Like all vultures, they are scavenging bird, feeds on carrion of almost any type, from the largest mammals available to fish and reptiles.

"CINEREOUS VULTURE"
Conservation status: NEAR THREATENED

Also know as "Black Vulture & Monk Vulture". With a height of 3ft, wingspan of 10 ft, weighing 15 kgs, it is the largest old world vulture in the Accipitridae family
Scientific Name: Aegypius monachus

Habitat: They forage for carcasses over various kinds of terrain, including steppe, other grasslands, open woodlands, along riparian habitats or any kind or gradient of mountainous habitat. Its migratory species in India, and can be seen in limited places like Western semi open dry areas and some part of the Himalayas while they breed and reside at Central Eurasian belt.

Food Habit: Like all vultures, the cinereous vulture eats mostly carrion. The cinereous vulture feeds on the carrion of almost any type, from the largest mammals available to fish and reptiles. They have even recorded hunting nestlings and fledglings of birds and baby mammals and reptiles, food habit varies upon availability throughout different parts of the world.

"HIMALAYAN GRIFFON VULTURE"
Scientific Name: Gyps himalayensis
Conservation status: NEAR THREATENED
Habitat: The Himalayan vulture lives mainly in the higher regions of the Himalayas at the elevation range of 1,200–5,500 m (3,900–18,000 ft). In winter some migrates to plains of Western and Middle part of India.
Food Habit: A scavenger, feeding on carcasses, largely disdain offal (which is readily eaten by other vulture species), typically eating only fleshy tissue. In a large party, these vultures can reportedly strip a carcass of all tissue in 30 minutes, and do the same to a yak carcass in roughly 120 minutes.
