What's inside Bonam..? Read it 👇
In the context of the Telangana festival Bonalu, a "Bonam" refers to an offering that is prepared and carried by women to the temple in honor of the goddess Mahakali. Inside the Bonam, you typically find:
1. **Rice**: Cooked rice is a primary component.
2. **Milk**: Sometimes, the rice is cooked with milk.
3. **Jaggery**: This is often mixed with the rice.
4. **Curd**: Yogurt may also be included in the offering.
5. **Water**: Occasionally, water is used instead of milk.
The offering is often presented in a decorated pot, which is adorned with neem leaves, turmeric, and vermilion. Women carry these pots on their heads to the temple as a part of the ritual. The Bonam represents a meal for the goddess and is offered to seek her blessings for health and prosperity.
