“Messy hairs and black tights,
Red framed glasses on my sight.
My nails may not be painted right,
And I may be a little short on height.
But I don’t care what you have to say,
Because I am a princess in my own way.”
Standing outside class for not bringing test copies, I was lost in my own world of imagination when a girl named Surabhi was sent out too. All the others were afraid of the fate that awaited them, but we both were in ‘what the hell’ kind of an attitude.
Lastly, the teacher came out and announced in an affirmative voice, “Everyone, stand face to face and hold each other’s ears.”
Some were scared, others humiliated, some were even crying, but I and Surabhi were silently standing face to face in this awkward arrangement, and then I started giggling, thinking about my first punishment in this new school.
Surabhi looked at the giggling girl in front of her weirdly and couldn’t help but laugh herself. What started as a mere snickering turned into full-blown laughter, which even the teacher’s beating couldn’t stop.
That day Surabhi and I found their lifelong friend.
