The three musketeers.

Dive. Catch. Dry. Repeat - Life of Cormorants.

Unlike many water birds, cormorants don’t have fully waterproof feathers, so after a deep dive, it’s all about striking a pose and drying off in the sun.

Perched high, scanning the waters, and probably arguing over who caught the biggest fish - one thing’s certain, teamwork (and a little drama) makes the perfect frame.

Kabini Tiger Reserve | October 2025

The tusks of the Elephant are not just symbols of quiet royalty - they are living tools that carve paths through dense forests, break barriers, and open corridors, allowing smaller animals to move, forage, and survive. Where a tusker walks, the forest follows.

Osprey | Kabini Tiger Reserve

The Osprey (Fish Hawk) is one of the world’s best anglers, with feet specially designed to grip slippery fish mid-flight. It is one of the few birds that can dive straight into water, seal its nostrils mid-plunge, and fly away carrying a fish nearly half its own weight - an aerial hunter perfectly adapted to life between sky and sea.

Crested Hawk-Eagle | Kabini Tiger Reserve

The crest of the Crested Hawk-Eagle is one of its most striking features — it consists of four to six long, narrow feathers that stand upright on its head.

The crest is usually black or dark brown and can be raised or flattened depending on the bird’s mood or alertness. It’s often used for display or intimidation, making the eagle appear larger and more imposing to rivals or threats.

Sunlight glints off its dark, battle-scarred hide, each curve a testament to sheer strength and survival. The minor wound etched across its massive frame tells a quiet story of resilience - nature’s formidable athlete standing unbowed in its untamed realm.

Blood Moon – September 7, 2025

During a total Lunar Eclipse, the Moon appears red, a phenomenon known as a Blood Moon — because Earth moves directly between the Sun and the Moon, blocking direct sunlight. However, some sunlight still reaches the Moon after passing through Earth’s atmosphere. This atmospheric layer scatters shorter blue and violet wavelengths while bending and filtering the longer red and orange wavelengths toward the Moon. The result is a coppery-red glow, similar to what happens during a sunrise or sunset, which gives the Moon its striking colour.

Colour or Monochrome?

A notable fact about sub-adult Tigers is that they often wait in a fixed location for their mother to return after a hunt. During this transitional phase, after being weaned but before becoming fully independent, sub-adult Tigers rely heavily on their mother for food and protection. When the Tigress goes off to hunt, she may leave her cubs or sub-adults hidden in dense vegetation or rocky outcrops, where they remain still and quiet to avoid detection by predators or rival Tigers.

Tucked between the Western and Eastern Ghats, the Biligiri Ranganatha (BR) Hills in Karnataka, India, is an experience beyond mere wildlife sighting - it was a quiet, humbling journey into nature’s heart. As our jeep wound through dense forests and sun-dappled clearings, every rustle and distant call stirred anticipation.

As we ventured deep into the sanctuary’s wilderness, every turn in the trail seemed to whisper stories older than time. A fresh trail of tiger pugmarks heightened our senses. We followed them with bated breath, every footprint leading us deeper into the forest’s secrets. But the tiger remained unseen, a silent reminder of how the wild reveals itself only on its own terms.

The forest taught us something valuable: patience, the perseverance to observe without expectation, and deep respect for every life form - from the chattering langurs above to the cautious deer in the undergrowth. BR Hills isn’t just home to wildlife; it’s a living, breathing ecosystem where every creature has a role, and where humans are only visitors.

Indian Palm Squirrels are solitary and only come together during the breeding season. They are active during the day spending their time both in trees and on the ground. Unlike some other species of squirrel, Indian Palm Squirrel does not hibernate.

Indian Palm Squirrels are omnivores. They feed mainly on nuts and fruits but will also eat seeds, insects, small mammals and reptiles, eggs, and even sometimes chicks of birds.
