Just completed another trip to Corbett tiger reserve last weekend. My excursions to CTR are always enriching. The jungle is full of so many surprises and every visit has an lasting impression on my soul. I usually enjoy the morning safari ride in the winter months. The forest looks very beautiful and the sight of mist floating on top of the river Ramganga is mesmerizing. I was at the poolia (small wooden bridge) on the Ramganga this morning. The sun was moving up towards the horizon to spread its golden light on the jungle. In seconds the jungle was enveloped in the orange light of the sun. I was trying to absorb the beauty of this morning with a couple of friends, when out of no where a family of otters appeared on the bank of the river. They were enjoying the winter morning by catching fish that had been cornered by the egrets and pond herons near the rocks at the bank of the river. The calm river bed had suddenly become the happy hunting ground of the otter family.
The otter family gave us company over the next 15- 20 mins, playing and fishing carefree as if we did not exist.
