Okay, I genuinely thought these were eggs at first.
Tiny, translucent little balls scattered across the fresh growth of my Cissus, but look a little closer and things get much more interesting.
They appear to be pearl bodies (pearl glands) tiny structures produced by the plant itself.
Apparently, these little “plant pearls” can contain nutrients like sugars and oils and may even play a role in attracting insects such as ants. Nature always has another tiny detail waiting to be noticed.
I’m still learning about these, so if you’ve seen them before, know more about pearl bodies, or think I’ve gotten something wrong, please add your thoughts in the comments. I’d genuinely love to learn more.
पुलकित/Pulkit thank you so much for guiding me 🙂🙏
Be honest… would you have thought these were eggs too? 😂
