The white elephant known as "PULU KISI" is a mascot that represents the elephant of the god of rain and the king of heaven, Lord Indra. During the festival, young boys carry the structure of the elephant through the streets led by a group of men. The elephant structure is made of mud, egg yolk, and Nepali paper, and is painted by an artist.

Indra Jatra is not a Photography friendly festival. Too much of a crowd and lack of space of the street/road makes it extremely challenging to compose a good photo specially when the masses are involved in a procession, but that's what makes it an interesting sport too. Here are a few hustled initial shots of it.

So, this is the Lhakey Dance from the "Indra Jatra 2024" a Newari festival held in Gangtok, Sikkim. His essence is seeded in the vigorous dance/body language more than the mask.
There are many more to come so stay tuned.
