Pictional Dreams An endeavor to photograph some magical moments with little ones - with a pinch of creativity, a dash of difference and a cup full of love - Sonal Mehra

A picture is worth a thousand words and sometimes a whole story. And when there is a baby in it, it is as magical as a dream! When my son was a couple of months old and I used to click his pictures, I always thought how I could capture his infancy better, with more expression. That’s when I came across Adele Enersen’s blog with her daughter Mila’s pictures. And I just had to try her unique style m

yself. I did get some encouraging feedback from family and friends and some even wanted me to do this for their babies. So here I am making an attempt at it!

Presenting Neev, the superstar baby of Pictional Dreams. He is in two cute avtars here - 1. Day dreaming of riding on Sofie, his Giraffe (Sofie doubles up as a chew toy) 2. The cutest Captain America to the rescue (yes, he actually has a Captain America diaper which came handy)

Neev was a complete darling not just as our muse but also to play with. His mom is my best friend and I can confidently say that he is blessed with the most adorable parents – Pooja and Nish*th (People who know them will vouch for this). So it’s only obvious that he is so cute, fun and the coolest baby I have met.

And about the photo-shoot, Pooja and Nish*th made this effort super simple with so many ideas and resources that it felt like a fun picnic. Both me and Shobhit hope they liked the outcome!

Cheers to the three of you! May you always be blessed!

Reyansh’s Photoshoot

My very first photoshoot and very close to my heart!

Reyansh is blessed with Rahul and Shelja as parents who are a superb blend of an independent modern couple still true to traditional values.

Meeting Shelja was a lovely experience as I got a chance to witness another mother closely. Shelja at first comes across as a quiet and private person. As we got started, I noticed how sharply she observed us and began to anticipate our needs. She pretty much offered us all perfect kind of help which made this shoot a breeze. I am not even beginning to talk about the delicious home cooked food she made all by herself here. And then there were these super special moments when she was with Reyansh – changing, playing, tucking him in, when I saw a completely different side of her. Under the quiet demeanor was hidden a dynamic mother.

Happy Mother's Day Shelja!

Motherhood. It is almost always the biggest life-changing event for a woman. There is suddenly this entire new person that is born in you, personality-wise and of course, for real, the one that you create.

I sometimes look back and wonder when did this happen to me? Exactly when?

Was it when I delivered? But I was almost unconscious then. Or was it when I first held him? That sure was pretty intense, right? I guess I figured it out when I opened up to going further back in time….

Without getting into specifics, back when we conceived, I and my husband were going through a very tough time, there was little hope and too much uncertainty. We planned a baby to have something to look forward to in our lives. We were 8 weeks into pregnancy and all we knew was it seemed like news that made our family happy and so we thought it must be a good thing.
I was scheduled for a major first trimester check-up. It was a Saturday so we left a little early to visit farmer’s market at Mahalaxmi Race Course before my appointment. We picked up some healthy organic produce, shopped for some trinklets, watched an amateur band perform and left for the clinic.
The friendly lady doctor said we shall have our first ultrasound as well today and took us in one of the rooms with a high end ultra sound machine and a bed. I lied down and she started by telling us that this is a time by when the baby would have formed a heart and she is going to check for the heartbeat. Once she assessed that things were fine, she asked us if we would like to hear the heartbeat. We nodded ignorantly. As she increased the volume in the machine and gave us an amazing smile, we were shaken to our core. We heard our baby’s heartbeat as it went dup dup dup dup…..and almost instantly we looked at each other and tears rolled down our eyes. That was it. The moment when it all changed. It was a volcano of emotion, to love, to protect, to care, to be together, stronger. In that moment the mother in me was born to live and grow with my little one.

Some of the most awesome things happen to us when we are not expecting them, that is probably what makes them awesome in the first place. These are the moments that make life worthwhile. For me, I am sure this feeling, this moment is one of the things that I will reminisce always and forever!

Happy Mother's Day!!
