Here's something to brighten your day up .
Maybe :)

A few years ago while hiking in the Himalayas with we came across an elder sitting under a tree and reading a gigantic book. We sat with him and chatted for a bit and despite being the worst Urdu student in class I tried to read a bit and it sounded strangely familiar!

When I asked him what book it was, he smiled and said it's the Bhagvad Puran and the book is over a 100 years old! Totally blew our minds at what a different India existed not too long ago.

He must have read this book a countless number of times , each page coloured and worn by decades of turning and fingers tracing the words.

Years later we went back and somehow found him again. A little older, the book a little more tattered. He read with his failing eyes and gentle voice. How long would this last? Would it just fade and be forgotten?

He said when he was a boy many things used to be in Urdu not just books and how much things have changed... Maybe not for the better but change... is a process.

I turned and there it was! Couldn't help but tap the shoulder of the stranger next to me with headphones on .. and just said 'Look'! So glad I didn't overthink this because sharing a special moment only makes it more special.

We both smiled through our masks, the clouds slowly swallowed the rainbow and took over the view like an ocean in the sky.

She went back to her crossword puzzle and I watched the last episode of Bollywood wives! Only if real life had a pause button.

The only true flying mammal on our planet. This is an Evening bat aka Pipistrelle. If not the tiniest then definitely in the top 3 I think. This little guy was cold and dehydrated After a drink and a mosquito snack he really perked up, made little clicking sounds but still couldn't fly up.

Years and years ago with .pandey and , we'd rescued the same kind of bat. If you're a badminton player you might have seen them chasing after shuttlecocks in the evening. We saw an unlucky one that had got hit by a racket and fell to the ground. We picked it up and kept it in a box and closed it. Even put something on the box so nothing opens it up. There were no vets around so we thought the least we could do is give it a warm quiet place to die, ... but the next day.. the bat was ...GONE! The box exactly how and where we left it. The lid still on. It was like magic..it had simply vanished!

And Now...older and wiser I did the same thing, but this time in a cosy basket with cloth, which went in a box which I taped from all sides (minus breathing holes) and kep the box in an enclosed shower area , so if it did come out it would still be in that space ..then went and closed the main bathroom door.

I've spent the last 6 hours making little clicking sounds looking, searching and re searching every possible corner and crevice in that damn loo..and the bat has once again... simply vanished! If this is not a magical creature I don't know what is.
