Riding through high altitude mountain terrain leaves you with such memories which are precious . Preparation is the Key and that is what stays with you throughout the ride .

Windblasts , Off-roads , Glacier melted Water Streams , boulders , slush , extremely thin Air and temperature below normal makes the journey interestingly challenging

Sani, located about 9 km from Padum, is a age old Zanskari village. Peaceful and quiet with a few Ladakhi styled houses and even fewer people on the roads. We looked around the village as we approached our destination ......

Guru Padmasambhava or Guru Rinpoche spent almost 5 years between the late 8th century and early 9th century at this place while meditating inside a cave. Hence a beautiful statue is constructed in the middle of the holy Sani/ Tuthot Lake . It is auspicious to take a parikrama (do a round) of the Lake.

I will never forget riding my Motorcycle on these mountainous terrain !

(Never say this quite often but this road is not at all for faint hearted)

2nd Pic : Clicked from the Singe La top (16,615 ft)

*This route was recently opened in Oct 2020 which connects Padum & Leh .

*While the Nimmo - Padum - Darcha road was approved in 2002, the work on the 39.6-km Darcha-Shinku La/Shingo La Road started sometime in 2007-2008

*After hard work of 12+Years with Covid coming in between BRO workers continue to do their work and make this way travel friendly for Zanskar & Ladakh civilians

Day 1 of pitching our tent in Jispa went well
It was 1°C during the night
However our body is ready to acclimatize for the real adventure waiting ahead 🤘🏻

Visited 8 years ago when there were very few camps here . Since the inception of Atal Tunnel the rush of tourists has increased significantly . Requesting all to be responsible tourists & Please don't litter .

Riding once again on the Leh - Manali highway had its own charm and flashbacks ....

The roads are pretty much done except few patches . Still the gushing cold wind , dust storms & crossing high altitude mountain passes makes the journey worth every bit of it .
