I feel people kind of forgot Takemichi saw Mikey vulnerable many times till now and not just on the roof.
When Draken survived the operation everyone was out the hospital ,celebrated, and only Takemichi noticed he wasn't there and searched for him.
Mikey calmed down everyone and filled them with hope for Draken will stay alive.
And i kind of feel they took him for granted because his the leader and all, and only Takemichi looked for him in every single time - he saw him as really good friend with warm heart and not a cold hearted or a monster like he seeing himself.
As an orphan kid, Draken saw the gang as his only family and Mikey was his close friend, he has a respect for him from day one. His last words for Takemichi in all times were "take care for Mikey" cause he knew how the missing of a big brother character in his life affected him.
So to all people who hates the final arc please respect Mikey (and Takemichi) more.

He deserve that.
