Captivated by the Gaze of the Osprey! 🦅
✨ Since 2012, I've been mesmerized by these magnificent creatures, dedicating my time to observe and document their captivating lives.
In flight, the osprey showcases its distinctive white or subtly mottled underparts. Most osprey populations are migratory, embarking on long journeys to escape harsh winters and find bountiful fishing grounds. Yet, year after year, they return to the same place with their faithful partners to nest and raise their young.
The bond between ospreys, their unwavering loyalty, and their exceptional hunting skills leave me in awe. I'm privileged to witness their breathtaking dives into the water, emerging victorious with their prey. The eye contact shared in those moments reminds us of the delicate predator-prey balance in nature.

The Gold-naped Finch, a delicate muse of Arunachal's embrace. Its feathers painted in shades of brown and a gentle touch of yellow, it exudes elegance and grace. The ebony-tipped wings are like strokes of a master painter, creating a harmonious symphony against the backdrop of Baisakhi's natural wonders. As the Gold-naped Finch finds solace on a wild flower, savoring the sweet nectar of life. It serves as a reminder to cherish the beauty that surrounds us and to protect the fragile balance of our precious ecosystems.

|| Black-Throated Sunbird ||

Feast your eyes upon the mesmerizing sight of the black-throated sunbird, gracefully perched on a vibrant Modar flower. As it delicately sips on nectar, its enchanting wine-red back and breast come to life, adorned with a purplish-blue crown that glistens in the sunlight. However, what truly sets this magnificent creature apart is its captivating midnight-black throat, adorned with two deep purplish-blue lines.

I had been wishing to spot the Grandala for a long time, and finally, during my recent trip to Sela Pass, Arunachal Pradesh, I had the incredible opportunity to see this beautiful bird. The Grandala is a large thrush with a unique appearance - adult males have a striking deep blue color and jet-black wings, while females and immature birds have brown feathers with white streaks on the head and underparts, and faint white bars on the wings.

You can often see the Grandala swirling in flocks above mountain passes, alpine forests, and highland meadows. Its flocking behavior is more reminiscent of starlings than thrushes, and its sharp-winged profile and long bill make it an incredible bird to observe and photograph.

As someone who had been dreaming of spotting the Grandala for a long time, I was thrilled to finally see and capture some record shots of this blue beauty.

Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush at Sange Dzong, Arunachal Pradesh!

This shy but beautifully patterned bird is found in the central Himalayas and has distinctive black neck spots and golden wing and tail panels.

Interestingly, depending on where they are found, these laughingthrushes can have different colour variations. Western birds have soft orange crowns while eastern individuals have dark faces and gray-streaked crowns.

You can spot these birds foraging in small groups in the dense undergrowth of hill and mountain forests. Sometimes they even gather in larger numbers during the winter.

If you're a bird lover or just appreciate nature's beauty, you won't want to miss the chance to see this incredible creature up close.
