Margao Railway Station: Three Robbers Caught by Alert Locals

Three alleged robbers were caught by alert locals at Margao Railway Station after they were reportedly involved in sn**ching gold chains, ornaments, cash, and mobile phones from passengers. The suspects were overpowered by members of the public and later handed over to the Margao Railway Police for further investigation.

Police have registered the case and are investigating whether the accused are linked to other theft and sn**ching incidents in the area.

The camp aimed to promote health awareness and facilitate the early detection of anemia among women and adolescent girls.

Under the supervision and guidance of Shri Shekhar Prabhudessai, Superintendent of Police, Railway, Shri Hiru Kavlekar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Railway, and Shri Vikram Naik, Police Inspector, Konkan Railway Police Station, Margao, the Konkan Railway Police have successfully traced 60 mobile phones reported as missing/stolen in various cases registered at Konkan Railway Police Station, Margao.
The mobile phones had been stolen from passengers travelling in different trains on the Konkan Railway route. Through sustained investigation, technical analysis, and coordinated efforts of all staff of Konkan Railway PS following persons have been apprehended and arrested in various cases reported at the Konkan Railway police Station.

New Delhi, July 10, 2026: National Fishworkers’ Forum (NFF) General Secretary Olencio Simoes opposed the Draft National Water Metro Policy during the Just Transition on Urban Waterways consultation organized by Climate Agenda in New Delhi. He argued that the policy, alongside the National Waterways Act, 2016, undermines the rights and livelihoods of traditional fishing communities by expanding centralized control over waterways. Simoes warned that extensive dredging for Water Metro projects would damage river ecosystems, fish breeding habitats, and aquatic biodiversity. NFF demanded withdrawal of the draft policy and called for meaningful consultations with affected fishing communities before implementation.

Pandharpur Vari 🙏🚩

The Mormugao Varkari Sansthan commenced its third Pandharpur Vari from Mormugao Taluka. What began with just 50 Varkaris has now grown to 160 devotees, reflecting the increasing faith and enthusiasm for the sacred pilgrimage. Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho were present to bid farewell to the pilgrims. Krishna Daji Salkar expressed happiness at seeing devotees of all ages, from senior citizens to the younger generation, undertaking the 15-day journey. Mauvin Godinho said the strength to walk 250 km comes from the blessings of Lord Vitthal-Rukumai and prayed for Goa’s prosperity and a brighter future.
