Happy Andhra Pradesh Formation!

Here are a few of my favorite photos from Andhra Pradesh. There are many more, but I can’t upload more than 10!

Today, we celebrate the spirit, culture, and history of our beloved Andhra Pradesh! From the serene beaches of Visakhapatnam to the lush fields of Konaseema, this state embodies resilience, progress, and rich traditions. Andhra Pradesh, formed on November 1st in 1956, has contributed immensely to India’s heritage with its art, dance, literature, and cuisine. Let’s honor our roots and look forward to a brighter, united future for all Andhraites. Here's to a day of pride and celebration!

Toy Story!
Kondapalli Bommalu

During a visit to the village of Kondapalli, renowned for its traditional wooden toys known as Kondapalli Bommalu, we had a poignant encounter with the artisans behind this beautiful craft. These artisans, part of a long line of craftspeople dating back to the 16th century, remain dedicated to preserving this rich cultural heritage. Despite facing financial struggles, they are determined to continue creating these vibrant and intricate toys, which depict scenes from rural life, mythology, and local festivals.

When asked how this art could be preserved, the artisans suggested something simple yet powerful: gift these toys to others. Instead of opting for mass-produced items like anime figures, people could choose to place Kondapalli Bommalu on their desks or in their cars. This would not only support the artisans financially but also help sustain an ancient art form that tells stories of India’s past. These toys, once part of royal collections and cultural festivals like Bommala Koluvu, still have the power to inspire and connect people today.

If you're a lover of authentic craftsmanship and cultural heritage, choosing to display or gift these handmade toys is a meaningful way to show appreciation for the arts. In doing so, you help ensure that the artistry and skills of these craftspeople are passed down to future generations.

And It was a great experience visiting Kondapalli along with and , witnessing the passion and dedication of the artisans firsthand.
