A couple to protect. A car to reach. Roads disappearing by the minute.

Red alert on every phone in the car.

This is the monsoon at full strength - and we were right in the middle of it.

We always plan for the worst. Rain, floods, anything. Plan B, Plan C - because the couple has put everything into this shoot. Travel, time, energy, makeup. We owe them a backup for all of it.

“This is just a short break,” I told them. Beyond the shoot, getting them somewhere safe - that’s always the priority.

But here’s the thing - the rain took the shoot, but it gave us something else. A connection. They understood me. I understood them. Now, a few clicks is all it takes to capture their warmth, exactly as it is.

That’s the real magic of moment photography. It doesn’t come easy. Thirteen years, and I’ve stood through moments exactly like this - more times than I can count.

That morning, 7 kilometers felt like forever.

This was the best 15 minutes of the entire shoot. And it ended in a run for our lives.
We don't do poses. We give prompts. "Walk toward me." "Whisper something to her." "Don't look at the camera yet."
Poses are generic - copy a Pinterest board, copy a reel, and you get someone else's moment, not yours. A prompt gets a reaction only you can give.
And it was working. Reshma laughing. Bharath forgetting the camera was even there.
Then the first drop fell. We smiled - rain frames, we love those.
But it didn't stop. Five minutes. Ten. Fifteen. We waited, still hoping.
It didn't pass.
The wind picked up. And the sea... started coming for us.
This is not the shoot we planned.
