Shooting for w .in has been a labor of love.

Olives have been a fascinating subject... I've gotten to shoot and craft these gorgeous Greek treats.

These jumbo bois straight from Kalamata are a game-changer, and I've only seen them in fancy Italian restaurants before, so it was so cool to get to not only shoot but also create dishes with them.

With shooting traditional Indian products like pickles or thokku, I like to consider the traditional perspective of how they're usually presented.

With especially local brands that rely entirely upon availability, word of mouth and price, the presentation is downplayed by most of them.

So when it came to presenting products that are often in the same category but with a brand that wants to present them better, I just went ahead with treating them like any other products of the modern day.

While it's not a particularly modern way to present the products, going the simple and clean route helped play to the strength of this entire group of products with a single element representing each product.

How do you approaching shooting conventional and traditional Indian products like this?

A few more of my favorite shots from the shoot :)

We went a little hard on that rim lighting there but you understand I had to 🤷🏻‍♂️ the backlighting was too good not to use!

The overall image is leaning more towards the warmer tones which I absolutely love. This is because of the interiors at the location being pretty yellow, which tinted the overall lighting to be a bit yellower than usual.

Commercially used product shots always have the product standing out quite a bit more than usual in them but a lot of the time, it makes no sense for them to.

So I was soo happy with this one as it not only achieved that purpose for the client but also had an aesthetic purpose behind it.

And as for the summery looking product shots well you can have a look at the BTS hehe

So a little secret...

I'm generally not a fan of using just a white backdrop but this one is an interesting one since it had some interesting texture on it.

It turned out wayy better than I expected and it's definitely because of the wonderful styling that was not done by me 😂

The texture was subtle and wasn't overwhelming and it really made the strawberries in the pic stand out a lot better without looking 'empty' as white backdrops sometimes can!

So my point is, don't sleep on them white backdrops.

Just one from the archives that never saw the light of day but still one I remember fondly setting up.

The blueberries were being the photogenic selves but the strawberries were most definitely taking their own time to look good.

Whenever cut fruits are invovled they tend to always make a bit of a mess. There's also a mango version of this which we ended up scrapping 😂

But hey it was still fun to set up.
