Nature always gives us good inspite of having very little to give. This album is my small attempt to highlight the presence of small, unnoticeable but unique and significant elements of Nature which struggle to keep the ecology alive and complete. Larva stage of Ladybug, ladybird or lady beetle -whatever one calls them!

It takes 3 to 5 weeks for this larva to develop into an adult ladybug. Many people are fond of ladybugs because of their colorful, spotted appearance. But farmers love them for their appetite. Most ladybugs voraciously consume plant-eating insects, such as aphids, and in doing so they help to protect crops. Ladybugs lay hundreds of eggs in the colonies of aphids and other plant-eating pests. When they hatch, the ladybug larvae immediately begin to feed.

Crab Spider - Thomisidae family

It is commonly said to refer to a fancied resemblance to crabs, or to the way such spiders hold their two front pairs of legs, or their ability to scuttle sideways or backwards. They are well known for camouflaged attacks hiding under leaves or flowers waiting for preys.

Most Lynx spider species make little use of webs, instead spend their lives as hunting spiders on plants. Except when defending egg purses, many tend to flee rapidly when approached by predators or large creatures such as humans. Most of them have large spiny bristles on their legs. The bristles form almost a basket-like structure that may assist in confining the prey that they grasp, and protect the spider from its struggles.

"Oxyopes javanus or birmanicus"
Lynx spiders are direct hunters. They do not build webs. A female spider can produce as many as 200 to 350 spiderlings in her lifetime of 3 to 5 months. The spider prefers drier habitats and colonizes rice fields after canopy development. It can prey on 2 to 3 moths a day and it has the habit of hiding from its prey until within striking distance.

Generalist predator. Usually forage on the upper surfaces of green leaves and bushes. Host : Moths and butterflies.
