Our first de-cluttering project is getting rid of the e-waste in our house. (Watch the reel posted earlier). We're hoping to give it to our local electrician who will probably have more use for these things than we do :)

In the 2nd pic, you'll see the book from which I will be heavily borrowing this year to learn to declutter. I got it as a Christmas gift and it was the clincher to my thoughts on having a 'plain'er life this year. The book shows you a picture of things you may have at home and asks you simply : yes or no. It's upto you to decide if you love it or want to 'leave it'.

Tu Tu sizes up the decluttering task ahead of her.
As mentioned before, we are on the journey of de-cluttering this year, and out first task is to clear all our electronic waste. All those unused charges and wires need a new home! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Lego Lockdown Day #100!!! Wow. Milestone day, I guess? Ok, so we haven't been very consistent with our posts. We had our first Lockdown birthday yesterday of a certain 6 year old.... so, I told him he could make the post for today. This is Lucas' 6 year old version of what the virus means to him.

When asked, he said that this was a man running, with the faceless virus chasing after him and zapping him.

As the cases in the city continue to rise, we hope and pray that you are all staying safe and taking whatever measures you can to avoid infecting yourselves and others. Lots of love from us to you!

Lego Lockdown Day # 95. This post was completely Mattโ€™s idea - the building of it, as well as the concept. He had been waiting for some of his favourite movies to be released this year, but due to the lockdown, they have been delayed. So, he came up with this scene - where the movie director and the cameraman are shooting a scene of a movie where the thief is making off with a chest of jewels. His getaway car is waiting for him, while a man with a bazooka is trying to catch him and thereโ€™s a cop behind him too. However, you can see a Real-Life cop yelling โ€˜Stop!โ€™ to the director, as they are not allowed to be shooting any movies at this time!

Hope you all enjoy the scene. If you swipe right, you can see a few close ups and 1 behind-the-scene shot as well! Have a good weekend!

Lego Lockdown Day #87. So, our intensified lockdown in Chennai began yesterday, and we thought we would do our daily lego stories for these 12 days. Let's see how far we go!

It's been two weeks since the boys started the new school year doing their online classes. It's been quite a challenge - for all involved! The kids, the teachers (I imagine), and the parents. In this image, which Matt put together, you see the teacher in the top left, trying to engage with the kids, then one attentive, eager student in the bottom right, and a bored, listless child in the top right corner.

From my point of view, the teachers are doing an amazing job, and I know that there have been big debates on whether or not the school fees need to be paid. I'm not going to get into that, but I'd just like to take this time to appreciate all the teachers out there who are trying to do their best to guide and teach their students in spite of all the (quite literal) obstacles in their way.

Lockdown Day #78. In a country where academic success is sometimes more precious than their own lives, students in Tamilnadu have a reason to celebrate. All the 10th Std. Students have been promoted to their next class without having to do their public exams which comes as a HUGE relief to parents, students and teachers alike!

The no. of cases in Tamilnadu is steadily on the rise, so, to the teachers who had to travel very far (despite no public transport), the students who had to study hard in this restless environment and to the parents who have been so worried about sending their children into a pandemic for their exams, congratulations! You are now free to carry on with your lives. This pandemic will certainly turn all our lives around. In one way or another.

Lockdown Day #69. These last few days, the no. of COVID cases in India have been sky-rocketing. I guess it was to be expected, but at the same time also quite scary. Some other people to be thankful for, are the media, statisticians and journalists, who are helping us to stay connected and stay informed at this time. Watching the numbers rise is definitely frightening, but it helps us to stay protected and be more cautious. As this virus starts to hit closer and closer to home, we need to take all the more precautions and take care of ourselves and each other by following all the guidelines provided. I have had to go out after a long time, over the last few days, and it saddens me to see people who either have no means to protect themselves, or people who either forget or donโ€™t know how to protect themselves, roaming freely on the roads or in shops, etc.
Matt made the little rocket-like thing for the graph, and I made the very hard-to -construct (:p!) steps. Matt also made the statistician standing beside the graph, watching the numbers rise. Thanks to everyone who is doing their job well to inform the rest of us on whatโ€™s happening โ€˜out thereโ€™. Stay safe everyone!

One of the things our boys have been missing, is meeting other people. I asked Matt what he wanted to do for the next Lego picture, and he came up with the idea of the grandchildren not being able to see their grandparents. Then the idea kinds morphed into an angry birds image.... so, the boys finally built this mix of Angry Birds and Lego, where the angry birds are 'slingshot-ting' (or maybe catapulting is a better word!) the grandchild to his grandfather, who is in isolation with the Piggy viruses around him! We do have a couple of Lego angry birds, but the boys couldn't find it in time for this picture.

I know the kids enjoy having their Paati (Tamil for Grandma) at home with them during this time, but they do miss their Opa and Oma (German for Grandpa and Grandma). I know many of you are missing being with the people you love too! Hang in there and know that this can't last forever. In the meantime, stay safe and stay at home as far as possible!

In the second picture, you can see a 'Behind the scenes' of the characters set up on an upside down tray, on a stool in front of our TV, which is mirroring my phone with the background image on it :)

Lockdown Day #41. With my Star Wars passionate 10-year-old, we couldn't NOT post something today. We thought we would post a buildable figure of Darth Vader that we had (not a minifigure). We thought we would say: ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก ๐ง๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐›๐ž ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐š๐ ๐š๐ข๐ง!

Hope that makes sense! But we really do NOT want to live this May 4th ever again.

Lockdown Day #40! Wow. 40 days. Can't believe it. So many jobs hang in the balance. Today's post is a tribute to all of those who are involved in the music and entertainment industry out there. Having a musician in the family, we can feel the direct impact of this time in our lives. We thank God that we are doing fine and are safe, but we really feel for those who are suffering.

We read about the artists performing in various circuses across the country that are now also really struggling.

We mourn along with all of India for the two great actors who we lost this week in the midst of this pandemic.

For all you artists / musicians / actors / singers out there - hang on.

p.s. - Matt built the lego guitar (watching a diy youtube video) but the drums he built entirely on his own, as well as the musicians (I love the one with the hipster beard! ๐Ÿ˜). This image was taken entirely on the camera which was so great - it meant only minor edits in Light room :)
