'Muttukadu Meenavan'

Woke up early morning racing against time to be in spot on top of the Muttukadu bridge to shoot the perfect sunrise. After setting up my camera, while I was waiting, I found this lone fisherman starting his daily routine. It was just him, the backwaters and the sun playing hide and seek behind him. It was serene.

Muttukadu is a small settlement along the Chennai coast. It is nestled amongst the backwaters, over which there is a bridge for vehicular movement. This bridge gives a panoramic view of the backwaters merging into the sea.

Meenavan, in Tamil (our local language) means a fisherman.

'Ayirathil Oruvan'

This was shot minutes after sunrise. Loved the bird flying solo against the fiery red sky. Had the fishing boat and the pelican in the waters to balance the Sun.

This picture was 'Ayirathil Oruvan' because of the single bird flying against the sky. The phrase roughly translates to 'One in a thousand' in Tamil.
