WE’RE DONE MAKING PRE-WEDDING PHOTOS LOOK LIKE PRE-WEDDING PHOTOS.

And that was exactly the point.

For Gowtham & Danujaa, we stepped away from the usual poses, predictable locations and picture-perfect formulas and created something that feels more like a still from a film than a conventional pre-wedding shoot.

Old walls. Dramatic frames. Quiet glances. Deep shadows.
A little fashion. A little cinema. And a whole lot of them.

Every frame was composed to make the space part of their story — letting the architecture, light and silence speak as much as the couple themselves.

Because a great pre-wedding photography session isn’t just about showing two people in love.

It’s about creating a world that feels like it belongs to them.

WE DIDN’T BUILD A SET.
WE DIDN’T BOOK A FANCY LOCATION.
WE JUST WENT TO THE TOP OF A BUILDING AND LET THE LIGHT DO THE WORK.

And somehow, that became one of our most elegant pre-wedding stories.

Aishwarya & Varun’s pre-wedding shoot was intentionally simple shot entirely around Varun’s apartment terrace, one of the tallest buildings in Chennai. No elaborate production. No complicated styling. No over-directed poses.

Just two people, natural light, and a city that suddenly became their backdrop.

The real challenge was making simplicity look extraordinary.

We photographed this series on the Canon EOS R6 Mark III, using the 35mm for intimate, documentary-style frames and the 24mm f/1.4 to create expansive environmental portraits that pulled the Chennai skyline into their story.

The 35mm allowed us to stay close capturing the smiles, touches, glances and tiny moments that happen between the poses.

With the 24mm f/1.4, we deliberately went wider, using the architecture, open sky and evening landscape to create a sense of scale. The fast aperture helped us retain subject separation while still giving the frames a strong sense of place.

Most importantly, we followed the light.

As the sun moved, the character of the photographs changed with it from soft, intimate portraits to warm golden-hour frames and understated black-and-white moments.

The concept was simple.
The ex*****on was intentional.
The result? Anything but ordinary.

What if the couple wasn’t the main subject of the photograph?

That was the idea behind this entire series.

Instead of filling the frame with the couple, we gave the architecture, reflections, negative space, symmetry and the surrounding landscape just as much importance.

We wanted you to first notice the frame…
then find the couple…
and finally discover the emotion.

Shot on the Canon EOS R6 Mark III with the RF 85mm F1.2L, we used compression and perspective to make the couple feel small within an enormous environment while still keeping their connection intimate.

Every frame was deliberately composed.
Every placement was intentional.
Even the reflections became part of the story.

Because extraordinary wedding photography isn’t always about getting closer. Sometimes, it’s about knowing exactly how far away to stand.

For this pre-wedding shoot, we wanted the architecture to become part of their story using ancient temple corridors, sculpted stone pillars, open fields and warm natural light to create frames that feel cinematic yet completely natural.

From the quiet intimacy of a black-and-white frame to the laughter shared beneath the trees, every photograph was created with a documentary approach allowing their chemistry to lead while the surroundings became the backdrop.

Aishwarya & Varun, a story of tradition, grace & quiet beauty.

Some wedding stories begin long before the muhurtham in the quiet moments of getting ready, the jewellery being placed, the saree being draped, jasmine finding its place in her braid, and that first glimpse of a bride in the mirror.

For Aishwarya, these moments unfolded beautifully at SPP Gardens, Chennai. Her traditional Iyer bridal styling, intricate jewellery, Kanchipuram silk and timeless elegance became the heart of this portrait series.

We wanted the gardens to become part of her story using lush greens, reflections, shadows and natural frames to create portraits that felt organic, intimate and cinematic.

Some frames were carefully composed. Others simply happened.

That balance between direction and observation is what we love about documentary wedding photography.

Some stories don’t need grand gestures. They live in the quiet glances, the effortless smiles, the way two people naturally find their way towards each other. Deepak & Aarthi’s engagement was exactly that intimate, elegant, and filled with the kind of moments that feel timeless.

From the stillness of their couple portraits to the little in-between moments captured as event candids, every frame carries a piece of their story. A story of two people stepping into a new chapter, surrounded by tradition, love, laughter and the promise of everything that lies ahead.
