She is Kisaru, the most successful Cheetah mother in Maasai Mara. I photographed her with one cub during recent November 2023 safari. It was raining and Kisaru made a kill of Gazelle. Her baby ate its share and you can see the blood stains on its face. In 2019 she delivered 6 cubs at a time and successfully raised them to adulthood. This is not a small achievement, especially if you see the mortality rate of cheetah cubs. It is estimated that only 1 out of 10 cubs survive through the adulthood. In 2020 January I was fortunate to witness these 6 cubs with Kisaru and made a video of that moment spent with them. We had some incredible images entered in the competition making it tough for the judges to shortlist images for the final round of judging. Judges have had a primary selection of images and now are looking at these images in the second round for select entries to reach the final stage of judging. Watch this video to find out if your image/s is shortlisted through the first round. Congratulations if you made it through the first round, if not get inspired by the images in this video and better luck next time.
Regardless of whether your image will be selected through the second round and reach the final stage of judging, you making it so far in itself is a testimony of your vision and skill for creation. If your images are selected in the second round, then we will get in touch with you via email you have provided us for procuring original image / RAW file, which is mandatory for your image to be evaluated at final stage.
