KUMAR PURNIMA Kumar Purnima is a harvest festival celebrated on the full moon day of Hindu lunar month of Ashwin (September-October). lt marks the end of monsoon



Why is it celebrated?

Kumar or Kartikeya, the handsome son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, was born on this day. He was very good looking and young girls always wished for a handsome husband like him. Therefore, the kumaries (maidens) celebrate this festival to get a good-Hooking husband like Kartika.

It was my first safari after the lock down, as entered the park we got an information about a leopard seen across the Udboor gate with a cattle calf’s kill, after first 1.5 hours of no trails of big cat, we decided to move towards the udboor gate and what more you can expect? A beautiful blue eyed leopardess aligned perfectly, watching us eye to eye, this picture is my first photograph after lock down and what a start it was ! Credits to the FD driver bhogi for what he is best at, reaching at the right time and what happened after that was a 20 mins show, many pictures coming soon in this series, a visual treat to everyone for those who had accompanied me from Bangalore .

Found in Indonesia on eastern Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Sumba, Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Adonara, Lembata, Pantar, Alor, Roti, Semau, Timor, Wetar, Kisar and Romang. The type locality given is "Soe, Timor". They are arboreal and can be found in dry monsoon forests within the altitudes of 900 and 1,200 m....
