A day drenched in turmeric, laughter, and love! Manisha’s Haldi ceremony at her home in Bhubaneswar was a riot of colors and emotions, surrounded by close family and age-old Odia traditions. 💛
In Odia weddings, the Haldi ceremony—locally known as "Maha Snana " is a sacred pre-wedding ritual. Held a day before the wedding, this ceremony involves applying a paste made of turmeric (haldi), sandalwood, oil, and sometimes milk or curd to the bride’s skin. This is believed to purify, cleanse, and bless her before stepping into her new phase of life.
At Manisha’s home in Bhubaneswar, the ceremony was intimate and joyful. Family members lovingly applied haldi amidst folk songs, traditional dhol and conch (shankha) sounds, and a playful splash of colors and flower petals. The ambience was a perfect blend of cultural richness and modern celebration, keeping the soul of Odia rituals alive.
