|| Andromeda Galaxy ||

This time I took the "big guy" - Sigma 150-600 lens with me as I wasn't very satisfied with the last result from the 50mm lens.

|| Andromeda Galaxy ||

The Andromeda galaxy or M31 is our nearest large galaxy. It is the most distant object we can see with our unaided eyes. It is located 2.5 million light-years away, meaning that what we see today is what the galaxy was 2.5 million years ago! Isn’t it amazing looking at the past (it feels like time travel)?

The Andromeda is approaching our Milky Way galaxy and in about 2 to 3 billion years these two galaxies will collide and form a giant galaxy. It is believed that the human race wouldn’t exist then to see this phenomenon. The centre of the Andromeda galaxy contains two massive black holes, creating such a bright core. The Andromeda is located between the constellations Cassiopeia and Pegasus, just above the bright star Mirach. It is best seen during the Autumn nights in the Northern Hemisphere.

I used the stacking method to get this image. My gears – Canon 60D, EF 50mm f/1.8, a tripod and an intervalometer. Here are the Exif details:
Light Frames: 350 images at f/2.8, 2 sec, ISO 2000
Dark Frames: 50 images | Light Frames: 50 images | Bias Frames: 50 images
A telescope would be a great option but you can achieve decent results from just the basic equipment.
