Pellucid hawk moth, coffee clear wing, coffee hawk moth (Cephonodes hylas Linnaeus,1771) commonly found in tropical regions and distributed throughout our own subcontinent. Striking colours on the dorsal abdominal region along with the clear wings are conspicuous.

An unforgettable encounter to be with this species on the top of the Mahendragiri hills while working on my PhD research i.e. to unravel the role of moths in pollination of angiosperms.

Hawk moths are very much important part of nocturnal pollination along with their day counterparts i.e. bees.

The Black and Scarlet Cicada (Huechys sanguinea) is a strikingly coloured cicada. The basic body colour is deep scarlet with smoky grey wings along with deep black proboscis and limbs. The specific name is from Latin sanguis, blood.
