Eristalinus taeniops EYE 👁️ Macro photography in bankura 📸

Eristalinus taeniops can reach a length of 11–14 millimetres (0.43–0.55 in).
These hoverflies exhibit a bee-like yellow and black coloration (Batesian mimicry) and are often mistaken for wasps or bees. The thorax has a metallic yellow-brown color and it is densely yellow hairy. Also the scutellum are yellow-brown colored. The abdomen is reddish-yellow, with transversal black bands. The compound eyes have five distinct, vertical, dark stripes.
The wings are transparent, usually yellowish-brown at the base, while the halteres are brightly pale yellow colored.



( এরিস্টালিনাস টেনিওপস 11-14 মিলিমিটার (0.43-0.55 ইঞ্চি) দৈর্ঘ্যে পৌঁছাতে পারে। এই হোভারফ্লাইগুলি মৌমাছির মতো হলুদ এবং কালো রঙের (বেটিসিয়ান মিমিক্রি) প্রদর্শন করে এবং প্রায়শই ভেপ বা মৌমাছি বলে ভুল হয়। বক্ষের একটি ধাতব হলুদ-বাদামী বর্ণ রয়েছে এবং এটি ঘন হলুদ লোমযুক্ত। এছাড়াও স্কুটেলাম হলুদ-বাদামী রঙের। পেট লাল-হলুদ, ট্রান্সভার্সাল কালো ব্যান্ড সহ। যৌগিক চোখের পাঁচটি স্বতন্ত্র, উল্লম্ব, গাঢ় ফিতে রয়েছে। ডানাগুলি স্বচ্ছ, সাধারণত গোড়ায় হলুদ-বাদামী, যখন হ্যাল্টারগুলি উজ্জ্বল ফ্যাকাশে হলুদ রঙের হয়।)

The plants are large tropical and subtropical herbaceous perennials with a rhizomatous rootstock. The broad, flat, alternate leaves that are such a feature of these plants, grow out of a stem in a long, narrow roll and then unfurl. The leaves are typically solid green, but some cultivars have glaucose, brownish, maroon, or even variegated leaves.
The flowers are typically red, orange, or yellow, or any combination of those colours, and are aggregated in inflorescences that are spikes or panicles (thyrses). The main pollinators of the flowers are bees, hummingbirds, sunbirds, and bats. The pollination mechanism is conspicuously specialized. Pollen is shed on the style while still in the bud, and in the species and early hybrids, some is also found on the stigma because of the high position of the anther, which means that they are self-pollinating. Later cultivars have a lower anther, and rely on pollinators alighting on the labellum and touching first the terminal stigma, and then the pollen.The wild species often grow to at least 2–3 m (6.6–9.8 ft) in height, but wide variation in size exists among cultivated plants; numerous cultivars have been selected for smaller stature.
