"Palace of illusions"
The Green gate .
Pritam Niwas Chowk is the inner courtyard of the City Palace. It has four smaller gates, each themed around the four seasons and dedicated to a particular Hindu god. The Green gate, representing Spring, is dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

"Desert People - 01 "
In general Rajasthan ranked very high on hospitality and welcomingness of the people there, although Bikaner was a bit of an odd one out. The shopkeepers, the auto drivers were more 'rest of the Indian' actually, apart from this guy right here. Met him just outside the Bikaner fort, a jolly good fellow, who not only agreed to stand for a portrait, but playfully asked me if I was actually any good to click his picture.. 😛
Well I hope I've done you at least tiny bit proud good sire.

'Lotus Gate ' is in the inner courtyard of the City palace of Jaipur. Here, there are four small gates, each adorned with themes representing the four seasons and Hindu gods.
This is the Southeast Lotus Gate (with continual flower and petal pattern) suggestive of summer season and dedicated to Lord Shiva-Parvati.

Tip: Do not visit the courtyard during hours of strong lateral shadows, as you would not get clear pictures of these doors. Best time is before 10 am or post 4pm .. and around Noon.

" Ula La La La Le yo "

Another one from Yogisthan, and this time of my first encounter with this amaze of a birdie. The Kingfisher.
This one in particular is the : Common Kingfisher.
These species of kingfishers are distributed in Indian subcontinent, North Africa, Europe, Middle East, Central and East Asia and Southeast Asia. These common kingfisher species are brightly plumaged and have compact body, short tails, large heads and long bills.
Birding Tip : If you find a bird on a twig or a branch, do lurk around. There's a good chance of them perching on the same branch again !

" A W E " is what you would be struck with, the first time you see this ceiling of the Sheesh-Mahal (The Hall Of Mirrors) in the Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur . Adorned with countless mirrors , the walls also have paintings of numerous Hindu deities. The European glass chandelier, however, is a late addition, and was not part of the original decor in the 1600s.This room is one of the four major period rooms in the fort. Other three of them being the Phool,Moti and Takth mahals. You aren't allowed to step inside these, you can, however, marvel at this to your heart's content from a few steps back.
p.s. : Shot on phone here as the crowd was too much to compose the shot at leisure. 😑

"Postcard from Rajasthan "
Oh boy. Where to begin.
Last couple of weeks have been a phenomenal experience of one of the most royal states of India, Rajasthan. It's going to take a while to dig into my trove of photos , but just wanted to drop this one as it best sums up the core of Rajasthani culture and lifestyle.

"Nothing is ordinary "
Shot during an excusrion to Hampi, a couple of years back, this is one of my most treasured photos.
Those piercing eyes convey an unforgettable message; to be thankful and never undermine or take for granted what you have been blessed with, while you pursue what you want.
