A Message to the Dreamers, the Beginners, the Curious Ones:
Just the other day, I received a heartfelt call from an aspiring baby photographer asking if I conduct workshops or training programs. The truth is, in my 10+ years of working exclusively with newborns and babies, I have never conducted a two-day workshop — despite being approached by numerous prop stores and event organizers.
Why?
Because you simply can’t compress a decade of lived experience, artistic composition, baby-handling knowledge, and hours of patient trial-and-error into a weekend.
You can’t teach patience. You can’t transfer the muscle memory required to gently adjust a baby’s position, or compose a frame that feels as timeless as the moment itself — all in 48 hours.
When I started, there were barely a handful of baby photographers in the country. Today, there are over 200+ — many of whom have entered the field without proper training in newborn safety. This worries me deeply, because we’re dealing with life, not a styled product. One wrong hand placement can cause real harm, and unfortunately, parents often have no idea.
I have seen too many newcomers quit after a year, selling off the expensive props they bought from such workshops. And let’s be honest — these workshops often exist not to train you, but to create a new market for props.
To all new aspirants:
✨ Don’t fall for glossy trends.
✨ Don’t leave your stable career to chase a dream you haven’t lived yet.
✨ Start slow. Create with humility. Assist someone. Learn organically.
✨ Fall in love with the craft, not the Instagrammable setups.
If you’re not prepared to invest your soul, time, and savings consistently into this niche, it’s best to let it be a passion project — at least initially.
This profession isn’t built on shortcuts. Every photo you see here? It’s the result of deep research, prop sourcing, creative vision, client trust, and 5+ hours of working gently with a baby’s rhythm.
Workshops don’t teach that. Experience does.
With love,
