Arvind Ramamurthy Wildlife Photography Arvind Ramamurthy is a Wildlife Enthusiast and Photographer from Bangalore. This page showcases images that have been shot across the true Indian Wild.

www.arvindramamurthy.com - While Photography is an interest, Wildlife photography in particular, intrigues me more than any other genre! There are various parameters that go into an image - lighting, background, foreground, subject, etc and none of these are controllable when photographing Wildlife.. that's the fun part :)

- As they say, Nature photographers only make money when they sell their

equipment; Glass (lenses) is expensive and I do have a desk job to be able to fuel this passion. Someday.... I'd like to quit it all and walk into the Jungle... :)

When it comes to protecting her young, there is no mother as fierce as a Sloth bear mum. They would even fight off a tiger if need be. Absolutely fearless and also very dangerous if you came across one on foot.

The cuddly cubs still don't trust her capabilities and often climb onto her back for protection and, of course, free rides.

After the legendary Prince in 2017, there was no tiger that established itself like he did. Prince was that tiger who put Bandipur on the map because he was often seen and had absolutely no fear of vehicles, giving road shows for hours.

Towards the end of 2023 is when this character stepped in. Believed to have come from the core zones of GS Betta, he took over most of the tourism zone and now has a territory and movement pattern that is very much similar to Prince's. He is here to stay until another competitor is born.

It is the beginning of dancing season in the jungles. Peacocks put out their best summertime performances, adding color to an otherwise yellow jungle.

The difference between 1 and 2 is the angle at which it was shot, and it makes a significant difference.

Some usual, boring, textbook head-on images of the Hulk boy mixed with other wildlife 😀

Finally, I got a picture of a Blue-Bearded bee eater from Bandipur. This one and the Blue-Faced Malkoha have been evading me for years, disappearing right when i picked up the camera.

Thanks to all the folks who are submitting their work to AI algorithms as part of the ghiblify trend, the day is not far when one can generate a "Tiger from BR hills." It is easy. The algorithms learn from what you feed them. The native trees, the habitat, the hills, everything can be and will be replicated by them.

But is Art really about the end product? Or is it the process?

It took me 10 years to see a Tiger in what i call one of the most mysterious forests of South India - BRT tiger reserve. A casual afternoon safari, just like the countless others, photographed some wildlife, some tree canopy by sun down, and while returning back, there it was!

A decade-long roller coaster down the valleys of this forest was quite a ride, one that touches the core of who you are. The things I've seen, the smell of this forest, the tree diversity, the Soliga community, the temple, the seasons, and of course, the tiger are all something to be experienced. What fun sitting in a room and generating art? Sounds regressive to me.

Just outside the main building of the K.Gudi camp is a Jacaranda tree. The tree flowers in March, with bell-shaped lavender flowers hanging upside down in bunches. They are loaded with nectar, but getting to them is tough for most birds except the Vernal Hanging parrot. The bird hangs upside down on the branches and maneuvers itself onto a flower bunch before feasting on it. A treat to watch!

If you love trees, BRT is the place to be.
The tree wealth and diversity in this forest is astonishing.
Feb-March is a great time for trees, as that is when most of them bloom or flush.

Langurs here are feasting on the flowers of Radermachera xylocarpa, an endemic deciduous tree known for a high concentration of phytosterols. The flowers, particularly, contain isoquercitrin, which is well known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidising properties.

Do Langurs eat for potential health benefits or for taste, we don't know!
