“Some roads disappear with the seasons, yet remain alive in memory.”

The Sharavathy Backwaters from Pattaguppa reveal a quiet summer story, where receding waters uncover an old bridge that stays hidden for most of the year. Seen only when the backwaters shrink in the heat, the bridge stands like a forgotten passage from another time, surrounded by still water, open skies, and the calm beauty of the Western Ghats. In other seasons, it disappears beneath the rising waters, making this fleeting view a rare reminder of how landscapes breathe, vanish, and return with time.

"In the gaze of a true king, the wild remembers who rules."

The big Jamol of Bandhavgarh emerges from the waterhole with the confidence of an apex predator in his prime. Just before dusk, after finding relief from the fierce summer heat, he steps out of the cooling water and fixes his eyes on you with a stare that is both calm and commanding. There is no haste in his movement and no uncertainty in his presence. Every muscle, every stripe, and every measured step speaks of power, experience, and absolute authority over his realm.

"Some crowns are not worn. They are opened to the light."

A male peacock in Bandhavgarh stands in all its glory, carrying the flamboyance of the Indian forest with effortless pride. His iridescent blue neck shines like a jewel against the earthy tones of the wilderness, while his magnificent train unfolds into a living tapestry of colour, pattern, and grace. In a land known for tigers, this beautiful bird reminds us that royalty in the forest wears many forms.

Forest Afternoon : © www.gouthamramesh.com

“In the heart of the wild, joy is often found in the simplest acts of togetherness.”

Seen through a gentle gap among the leaves, a family of langurs spends the afternoon in the forests of Bandhavgarh, grooming each other and resting in complete ease. The foliage forms a natural frame, offering only a quiet glimpse into their world, where affection, trust, and companionship unfold without pretence. In the soft stillness of the afternoon, their gestures speak of family bonds that are as tender as they are timeless.

This is the quieter side of the jungle, away from drama and pursuit, where life flows in moments of calm intimacy. The langurs, lost in their own rhythm of care and comfort, remind us that the forest is not only a place of survival, but also a home for warmth, connection, and pure bliss.
