1st Day at school of life.
Lioness’ can clamp down on a water buffalo’s muzzle suffocating it. But the same jaws of death gingerly picks up a cub to move it, too. The little one is as good a learner as its mother is a teacher. When picked up, it calms down and its body goes limp. Gentle jaws, no squirming, no trouble. Nature teaches you better than any school ever will, isn’t it?

Opening shot of sibling rivalry over a Tigress.
Before anyone makes a comment I would like to say that the vehicles behind the Tigers had maintained enough distance and the Tigers moved really fast towards them and fought with each other.
Seen here are Rudra and Shivanjhari male who are siblings and I did photograph them when they were 3 months old. Today was a sight to watch them fight for the temptress Maya.

24K GOLD.
Something about the male Tigers of Tadoba, they look bigger and more aggressive for some reason. This male here is a sub-adult and extremely hot tempered. I’m heading to Tadoba tomorrow for a week & looking forward to cold winter safaris tracking these majestic beasts.

Series of a sad morning but then I keep saying to myself ‘Survival of the fittest’.
Spotted these two Lion brothers at a distance and as I approached them I realised they were moving fast towards an Eland at a distance. Getting close to the Eland the story revealed that she had given birth minutes ago and 4 jackals took down the new born calf, as the jackals were feeding on the kill came in these two Lion brothers who came and took over the leftovers. Quite an early morning this was.

Tiger cubs love water and are at their playful best around these small water bodies. Here is Arrowhead’s cub wading carefully and checking the depth before she leaped out.

PURE GOLD.
One of Arrowhead’s cub sitting on a cliff and looking down at her sibling who was playing in a water body below. No park to beat the light at Ranthambhore, so GOLD!

All play and no work :)
Sub adult cubs of Arrowhead were in an extremely playful mood today at Ranthambhore. They put up a good half hour show with their antics. What a sight to watch these playful siblings.

Why just Leopards? :)
The Lions of Masek in Tanzania have found that unwinding atop a tree not only gives them vantage but more importantly, it gives them respite from the very annoying flies that buzz around them.

Yawn and move.
So typical of cats when they wake up, I have noticed in most cases once the cat wakes up it takes 3 yawns before they move. Quite predictable if I must say. :)
