WITH A HEAVY HEART

There comes a time when silence becomes heavier than words.

By the infinite grace of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, I was blessed beyond measure — to be His student, to live in His presence, and to serve as His photographer. These were not opportunities given to my by any person or institution. They were His direct gifts.

I studied, worked and lived in Puttaparthi from 1998 to 2021, and received three degrees from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, including a gold medal. Every step of that journey was sanctified by Him.

When I chose to step away from the Central Trust, it was not impulsive. It came after deep inner conflict — and nine clear indications from Swami to move on.

Since then, many have wondered — some with concern, others with judgment — why I am no longer seen in Puttaparthi during festivals, why I travel elsewhere, and why I seem “absent.” Some have even labelled me a traitor or opportunist.

The truth is far more painful.

I was told I could no longer sit with students. I was denied alumni membership — without explanation, except that “it was decided by higher authority.”
When I asked, “Isn’t that Swami?”, there was silence.

Swami alone healed that wound. He told me in His own unique and inimitable way, “Sai-student is Sai’s student. You are My student.” Holding onto that, I continued to visit Puttaparthi, sat with devotees in Kulwant Hall, grateful simply to be there. A few devotees identified me and asked me why I was sitting there. I replied with a question, "Where do devotees sit?"

But then came another message — I was no longer allowed to enter the Ashram! A warning followed: if I returned, my photo would be displayed at the gate as a security threat!

Yes, it hurts. Deeply. I cannot fully describe what that feels like.

To be distanced from a place that was once your home…
To be separated from spaces that shaped your soul…
To be left without answers, without closure…

But every time my heart breaks, Swami restores it in ways only He can, reminding me: “Be happy always. I am always with you. Nobody can come between us.”

I share this not to defend myself, but to heal. I share this not to invite judgment, but to gently place my truth before you. Because every time someone asks, “Why don’t you come to the Ashram?”, it reopens wounds that are still mending.

If you care for me, I ask only this — please don’t ask me that question. Keep me in your prayers, as I keep you in mine.

If you have ever felt misunderstood…
If you have ever been set aside without knowing why…
If you have ever had to walk away from a place you deeply loved…

You may understand a little of what this journey has been.
And a humble prayer to all devotees:

Let Puttaparthi remain what it was meant to be. A place where only Swami’s presence fills every space. Keep only His photo there and NOBODY else’s! For that is why devotees come to Puttaparthi - to put apart the ‘I’, and find Him.
