Fly high like a kite

Brahminy Kite

It is medium-sized bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors, such as eagles, buzzards, and harriers.

They are found mainly on the coast and in inland wetlands, where they feed on dead fish and other prey. Adults have a reddish-brown body plumage contrasting with their white head and breast which make them easy to distinguish from other birds of prey.

കൃഷ്ണപ്പരുന്ത്

മാംസഭോജി പക്ഷികളായ പരുന്തുകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്‌ കൃഷ്ണപ്പരുന്ത്[2] [3][4][5] അഥവാ ചെമ്പരുന്ത്.
ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം: Haliastur indus (ഹലിയാസ്തുർ ഇൻഡസ്).

ഈ പരുന്ത് കേരളത്തിൽ സർ‌വ്വവ്യാപിയായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യ, പാകിസ്താൻ, ബംഗ്ലാദേശ് ദക്ഷിണപൂർ‌വ ഏഷ്യൻ രാജ്യങ്ങൾ തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ മുതൽ ഓസ്ട്രേലിയ വരെ ഈ പരുന്തിന്റെ ആവാസകേന്ദ്രങ്ങളാണ്‌. നന്നെ വരണ്ട മരുഭൂമിയും തിങ്ങി നിറഞ്ഞ കാടുകളും ഒഴിച്ച് മറ്റെല്ലാ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും അതിൻ വസിക്കാൻ കഴിയും. മനുഷ്യവാസമുള്ള സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും മനുഷ്യൻ എത്തിപ്പെടാത്തിടങ്ങളിലും അവ യഥേഷ്ടം വസിക്കുന്നു.

വളരെ പ്രൗഢിയും തലയെടുപ്പുമുള്ള പക്ഷിയാണ്‌ കൃഷ്ണപ്പരുന്ത്. തല കഴുത്ത് മാറിടം എന്നിവ വെള്ളയും ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മറ്റു ഭാഗങ്ങളെല്ലാം കടുത്ത കാവി വർണ്ണവുമാണ്‌. വാലിന്റെ അഗ്രത്തിന്‌ അർദ്ധ ചന്ദ്രാകൃതിയാണ്‌. പ്രായപൂർത്തിയാകാത്ത പക്ഷികൾ ചക്കിപ്പരുന്തിനേപ്പോലെയാണ്‌ കാഴ്ചയിൽ. അവ കൂടുതൽ കാപ്പി നിറം കലർന്നവയായിരിക്കും. മുതിർന്ന പരുന്തിന്‌ ബലിഷ്ഠമായ കാലുകളാണ്‌ ഉള്ളത്. കാലുകൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് അവ ഇരയെ പിടിക്കുന്നത്. ഇര കാലുകളിലെ പിടുത്തത്തിൽ നിന്ന് എളുപ്പം കുതറിപ്പോകവാതിരിക്കാനായി പാദങ്ങളിൽ ചിതമ്പലുകൾ പോലെ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.

വലിയ മരങ്ങളിലാണ്‌ ഇവ കൂടൊരുക്കുന്നത്. അമ്പതു മീറ്ററിലധികം ഉയരത്തിൽ വളരുന്ന മരങ്ങളിലാണ് പരുന്ത് സാധാരണ കൂടുവെയ്ക്കാറുള്ളത്.

I am Coming ...

Black Kite : It is a medium sized bird of prey . Unlike others of its group black kites are opportunistic hunter and are scavenge.
Overall dark brown plumage with forked tail. Sexes alike . Juvenile has buff streakings on head and underparts

Habitat : commonest raptor found in neighbourhood of humans

ചക്കിപരുന്ത് :
ഇരുണ്ട കാപ്പിനിറത്തിൽ ഉള്ള ഇവയുടെ വാൽ 2 വശത്തേക്കായി പിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു .
ആൺ പെൺ വെത്യാസങ്ങൾ കാര്യമായി ഇല്ല .കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾക്കു തലയിലും അടിഭാഗത്തും മങ്ങിയ മഞ്ഞനിറത്തിൽ ഉള്ള വരകൾ കാണാം മനുസ്യവാസമുള്ള സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ കൂടുതലായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു

Greater Racket Tales Drongo is about to take of during the Rain .

Its always pleasure to get a photograph during heavy Rain.

It was raining from the morning onwards and I waited so long to saw a bird during this heavy rain and It was none other than Greater Racket Taled Drongo (the one I found where ever I visited for birding)

It was very pleaseure to saw a birds action during the rain .

Little Cormorant

The little cormorant is about 50 centimetres (20 in) long and only slightly smaller than the Indian cormorant (Phalacrocorax fuscicollis). The Indian cormorant has a narrower and longer bill which ends in a prominent hook tip, blue iris and a more pointed head profile. The breeding adult bird has a glistening all black plumage with some white spots and filoplumes on the face. There is also a short crest on the back of the head. The eyes, gular skin and face are dark. In the non-breeding bird or juvenile, the plumage is brownish and the bill and gular skin can appear more fleshy. The crest becomes inconspicuous and a small and well-marked white patch on the throat is sometimes visible.
