Group shots from a balcony are always a gamble. Especially when it’s done on film. Dark room, one flash, no idea if I had everyone in frame. I came to that balcony to shoot slow shutter dance floor pics on the last three exposures I had in my trusty Nikon F100.
The DJ saw me, stopped the music and invited everyone for a group photo. Thank goodness I had a camera flash on. Fired three shots, hoped for the best.

Got the film back weeks later. Everyone’s in there. Everyone’s laughing. Flash power reached exactly where it needed to. These photos will be in the couple’s wedding album.

You don’t get a preview with film. You trust the process and use every bit of knowledge you have to make the best out of it.

Gaby and Chris chose the LA Central Library for their engagement session and honestly, it made perfect sense. They’re both avid readers, and this place is basically a love letter to books.
Shot late February, right at sunset. Got the warm exterior light first, then moved inside for those slower and quieter shots.

Built in 1926, this building does more work as a backdrop than almost anywhere else in Downtown LA. If you’re planning an engagement session and want something other than the usual spots, this one’s worth a look.
Can’t wait for the wedding, you two!

Reminiscing about this late October elopement in NYC with K & J. We were lucky to have the best possible weather, early morning bliss in Central Park, and a perfect NY experience all around, including horn “congratulations” from city bus drivers and free donuts for the couple at a coffee shop.
If you’re looking for an officiant in NY, I highly recommend

It’s time to share Alana + Griffen wedding video teaser. Better late than never–oops.

Alana and Griffen celebrated their marriage at The Lookout at Lake Hope surrounded by the people they love the most. Fav moment: right after sunset they step out for a private vow reading with the mountains and last sun rays as their backdrop. It is such a beautiful way to share words of love with each other! After that, Griffen pulls Alana in, lifts her up and swirls in the moment of pure joy and happiness. That’s the shot I live for. More is one the blog, link in bio.
