Wular Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Asia, is currently facing a severe ecological crisis due to plastic pollution, solid waste, and siltationPlastic & Garbage: The lake serves as a drainage point for the Jhelum River, causing massive amounts of plastic bottles and polythene to accumulate. This creates "dead zones" that harm aquatic life and disrupt the livelihoods of thousands of fishers.
Siltation: Massive soil erosion from surrounding mountains has filled the lake bed with silt, significantly reducing its water-holding capacity and depth.
Impact: These issues lead to frequent flooding, the loss of biodiversity, and the contamination of water chestnuts (nadru), a primary source of income for local communities.

Wular View Point. As we all know, this site holds immense potential for our community and visitors alike. However, the construction work has been halted for some time, leaving the project in an unfinished and precarious state.
Leaving this site as a pending construction zone is not just a delay in progress; it is a safety hazard. Open foundations, exposed materials, and unsecured structures pose a significant risk of accidents to locals and curious passersby.
To ensure the safety of our citizens and to fulfill the promise of this beautiful landmark, we earnestly request the concerned department to resume work immediately
