Residency #1: Anne Simin Sh*trit ()

We’re excited to announce the opening of our darkroom doors to the incredibly talented Anne Simin Sh*trit, our very first resident artist!

Anne is a Jerusalem native and Paris-based photographer known for her meticulous and thoughtful approach to analog techniques. She is currently piecing together fragments of heritage and history for her upcoming solo exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

She studied at the Bezalel Academy and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, and her work has been exhibited at the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Paris, the Bezalel Gallery, and Binyamin Gallery.

Anne's analog photography deeply explores themes of memory, identity, and belonging, challenging artistic boundaries through her intimate and carefully crafted images.

We're thrilled to be part of her creative journey!

Excited to share that ALATA is part of “Worth the Wait” at !
We’re presenting the full analog process: from shooting, through developing, to printing - inviting visitors to experience the pace and poetry of film photography.

The exhibition explores waiting as a meaningful, rich experience rather than “empty time,” bringing together artifacts and contemporary works to reflect on how we wait, why we wait, and what waiting reveals about us.

Open for the next year - come visit, take your time, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the analog process.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:

Merav's art journey started with classical music, a discipline that taught her how to take a traditional form and make it completely her own. This idea now guides her photography - finding a deep, personal meaning in the world around her.

She began taking photos with a digital camera, but treated it like an old film camera, shooting only in black and white, one frame at a time. This early habit led her to work with film, a process she loves for its timeless feel and careful pace. Merav often uses her Yashica FX-3 Super, a simple camera that lets her explore the roots of photography while giving her the freedom to create something new.

Merav's photos have a quiet, powerful energy. Her work shows those calm, sometimes strange moments where a small detail can change everything.

Just like a musician who practices a song over and over to get it just right, Merav's process is all about focus. She works to take a single feeling or moment and turn it into a clear image, believing that the act of searching and creating is just as important as the final photo itself.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
Shira Houminer () picked up a camera at six, and it’s been her way of speaking ever since. Photography became her first real language, the one that lets her tell stories when words fall short. Over the years, she found herself documenting musicians, festivals, fashion, and more recently even weddings. What connects it all is her quiet approach - allowing life to unfold, attentive and patient, never forcing, only framing with care.

Four months ago she traveled with a close friend to the small Greek island of Samothraki. They were the only visitors. Surrounded by silence, empty beaches, and raw landscape, they wandered freely, comfortable in their own skin, present with the earth beneath them. With her Olympus mju ii, Shira captured those moments of stillness and vulnerability, where body and nature meet without judgment.

Her images invite us into that same space - to slow down, to notice, and to see with love.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
Sahar Oren () approaches photography not just as a tool, but as a mirror - a way to explore truth, beauty, and healing. For Sahar, truth is presence: the ability to be fully in the moment. She finds beauty in imperfection - in a crack on the wall, a scar, or the quiet irony of everyday life.

Working with analog photography and all its unpredictability, Sahar embraces grain, texture, and mistakes as emotional elements. Her images aren’t staged or polished - they invite acceptance, not perfection. In her grainy frames, we’re reminded that everything solid is made of particles - of matter and space.
