Sometimes, Antarctica forgets it is made of ice.

For a brief moment, the continent turns gold.
Mountains soften, shadows stretch, and light does what it does best:
reveals another way of seeing the extreme.

This is Golden Antarctica —
a reminder that even at the edge of the world,
beauty can be gentle.

A veces, la Antártica olvida que está hecha de hielo.

Por unos instantes, el continente se vuelve dorado.
Las montañas se suavizan, las sombras se alargan
y la luz revela otra forma de mirar lo extremo.

Esto es Antártica Dorada:
un recordatorio de que incluso en el fin del mundo,
la belleza también puede ser sutil.

Antarctica teaches scale like no other place on Earth.

Here, ice is not scenery — it is architecture.
Walls of frozen time, glaciers the size of cities, silence that dwarfs you.

As a photographer, you don’t frame Antarctica.
You surrender to it.
You include a human figure only to understand how small we are —
and how vast this planet still is.

This is the colossus of Antarctica:
a reminder that nature does not need us to exist,
but we desperately need places like this to remember who we are.

La Antártica enseña la escala como ningún otro lugar del planeta.

Aquí el hielo no es paisaje: es arquitectura.
Muros de tiempo congelado, glaciares del tamaño de ciudades,
un silencio que te empequeñece.

Como fotógrafo, no encuadras la Antártica.
Te rindes ante ella.
Incluyes una figura humana solo para entender lo pequeños que somos
y lo inmenso que aún es el mundo.

Eso es lo colosal de la Antártica:
un recordatorio de que la naturaleza no nos necesita para existir,
pero nosotros sí necesitamos lugares así para recordar quiénes somos.

Sometimes, the most powerful images are not chased — they are given.

In Antarctica, photography is an act of patience.
You wait for the ocean to breathe, for silence to settle, for a whale to decide the moment.

This last Antarctic expedition reminded me why I photograph the poles:
to document what still remains wild, vast, and untouched —
and to share it with respect.

A veces, las imágenes más poderosas no se persiguen: se reciben.

En la Antártica, fotografiar es un ejercicio de paciencia.
Esperar a que el mar respire, al silencio, a que una ballena marque el momento.

Esta última expedición me recordó por qué fotografío los polos:
para documentar lo que aún permanece salvaje
y compartirlo con respeto.
