Statement from the collective of lawyers of President Issa Tchiroma Bakary
The Lawyers Collective of President Tchiroma, President-elect of Cameroon, expresses deep dismay and sharp indignation over the tragic events that occurred during today's peaceful march, in which seven unarmed and defenseless citizens were killed, victims of defense and security forces real bullet shooting.
As advocates of law and justice, we solemnly appeal to the international community, as well as all chancellaries attached to the universal values of democracy and human rights, to pay urgent and sustained attention to the repressive drift currently being observed in the world. the country.
The Collective strongly denounces the progressive ethnicization and concern of repression, which undermines the very foundations of national cohesion and poses a serious threat to social and institutional stability.
We also condemn the illegal, disproportionate and murderous use of public force against peaceful demonstrators, in a clear violation of the Constitution, and international instruments relating to the protection of fundamental rights signed and ratified by the State of Cameroon.
We are warning the international community about the silence observed regarding these serious and inhumane executions, a silence that, in the face of the current situation in the country, will certainly be perceived as a form of moral complicity.
We are warning with the same energy the African Union as well as the countries of CEMAC whose Cameroon is an active member on its situation that they cannot ignore and on which they cannot close their eyes for any longer. The Lawyers Collective of President Tchiroma, President ELU of Cameroon, denounces and calls for the immediate opening of an international investigation, the immediate cessation of state violence, and the restoration of the full exercise of public liberties and civil rights guaranteed by the international conventions to which Cameroon has freely signed.
We call for the vigilance and responsibility of friendly and partner nations, so that the principles of justice, human dignity and respect for life prevail over the logic of fear and division because the time is critical!!
