Making a simcha right now is not simple.

Alongside all the excitement, the planning, and the hope that comes with a special family occasion, there is also the reality of the times we are living in. It means thinking about things none of us ever wanted to have to include in event planning, like where the nearest protected space is, and what everyone should do if a siren sounds in the middle of the celebration.

A Wedding in Paduel, Interrupted by Sirens

Last night, just as the chuppah ended at a beautiful wedding in Paduel, sirens suddenly blasted and incoming rockets could be seen overhead.

It was one of those moments that is almost impossible to process while it is happening, the joy of a wedding colliding with the reality of war in Israel.

This was the first event I’ve filmed since the war began, and it became far more than a wedding video. It became a real and deeply human moment, joy, fear, faith, and resilience, all in the space of a few seconds.

A night the couple, their families, and everyone present will never forget.
