I almost said no to four boxes at my door.
Inside was a Nikon Z7 II, lenses, and the full photographic life of a woman named Sarit, a nature and landscape photographer from Be'er Sheva who had a stroke and developed dementia.
I have not put her camera down since it arrived.
New video is up. It is about creative renewal, about shooting with no expectations, and about what one woman's photography is still doing in the world long after she stopped being able to hold a camera.

Running through the heat & finding the light.
Every year, I lace up my running shoes to honor the memory of Yuval. This year’s run was hot, tough, and filled with a really tough uphill climb, the kind that feels like it will never end.
But as a photographer, my eyes are always searching for the story.
Even in the middle of a tough climb, using just my smartphone, I couldn’t help but notice the quiet beauty along the way. The sun hitting the vineyards. A father and son pacing each other through the heat.
To me, photography isn’t about waiting for a perfectly staged moment. It’s about being deeply present in the raw, messy, and beautiful reality of life. Whether it’s a milestone community event, a family gathering, or a quiet slice of everyday life, there is profound meaning in the stories we share.
If you’re looking to document your next chapter, your family’s milestones, or an event close to your heart with intention and soul—let’s connect.
DM me to talk about your next event.

Every year I come back to photograph the senior girls at the school, and every year it reminds me why I love portrait work.

This year we were also filming part of the session for my lighting masterclass, "More Than Just the Sun." The girls knew they were being filmed and were wonderful about it. All fifty-plus of them, patient, enthusiastic, and genuinely fun to work with, even as we were working against the clock with limited space, full midday sun, and a group shot still to get through.

Their teacher wrote to me afterward with some of what the girls shared:

"All of the girls were amazed with the pictures I sent of them."

"Girls specifically said, what an amazing photographer she is."

"They had such a fun time and felt you were very professional."

That's the kind of feedback that stays with you.

If you're looking for a photographer for events, school portraits, or any kind of group or individual portraiture in the Jerusalem area, I'd love to hear from you: [email protected]

And if you're a photographer curious about how I handled the lighting that day, the full masterclass, "More Than Just the Sun," is available for $29. You can purchase it here and watch at your own pace: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/4N65DAJ7Z54TQ

The photographer who stops feeling nervous has stopped growing.
25 years. Still nervous. Still moving closer anyway.
The 35mm keeps me honest. It keeps me close. And close is where the real photographs happen.

Your photos might be sharp. They might be well-exposed. They might even get compliments.
And still something feels missing.
That feeling is not about your gear. It is about whether you are actually practicing, or just performing what you already know.
My new video is up. I share the habits that quietly kill creative growth, and the three things that genuinely changed how I see and shoot.
Come watch.

Shouldn't we photograph pretty much every momentous event?!

End-of-year celebrations hit differently when you're photographing nearly 150 girls who have spent a whole season playing soccer together.

This wasn't just a team party. Families came. Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers- the fields filled up and the energy multiplied. Which meant the challenge did too.

This wasn't a game. There were stations, movement, families weaving through it all, and the kind of late-afternoon light that looks golden in theory and turns into a real puzzle in practice. Strong. Directional. Casting long shadows across two fields on different levels.

So you move. You think about where the light is coming from and where it isn't. You get low. You get to the side. You figure out how to make the harsh light work for the moment rather than against it.

What I didn't expect was how many of these girls I already knew. Bat mitzvah girls I'd photographed over the years, now in cleats, running toward me to say hello. That kind of thing stays with you.

And it reminded me of something personal. Growing up in Chicago, attending a Jewish day school on the South Side, there was no girls' team. I had to wait until college in New York before that changed. I think and hope that these young women know how blessed they are. It is so moving to me that this opportunity exists.

The mayor of our city and all the people who helped make this a reality (I can't find them to tag them) deserve a LOT of credit.
Watching these girls, surrounded by their families, celebrating something they built together, the first of its kind in our community, meant something beyond the photography.

Every person there deserved to be seen. So I kept moving until that was as close to a reality as I could make it.

Thank you for hiring me for this wonderful job - I just loved shooting it; it brought me joy. Looking forward to many more!

I told you the 35mm can do everything. And, I basically believe it.
My comments section had other thoughts.
Part 2 is up — a clarification, a deeper look, and real images from street photography, portraits, landscape, and a bat mitzvah session where I left the 85mm in the bag.
