Sara Fefer Photography Lifestyle Photographer - Making your dream photos a reality! Business, event and family photos. Why do I approach my work with so much enthusiasm?

I feel really fulfilled when I see how happy people are with their photos. I bring creativity, patience, and a knowledge of the visual to help execute your vision to the world. It all began 24yrs ago at Women in Film & Television-Toronto, Canada. I continued my studies at York University's Film School, focusing on directing, while pursuing photojournalism as a hobby. Now I bring my skills of story-telling into my still photography.

My favorite type of business photoshoot is the real branding style where we capture them in their creative element, doing the things they love most, venturing into areas of life that their clients don't always see, simply put, making it personal.

Had so much fun with .zaray.art creating and crafting this shoot from start to finish with her artistic input. Honoured to be a part of this process.

...when you're just absolutely head over heels in love with a location and must show every face of it.

I'm always amazed at the magic that happens in every session and feel blessed to be able to guide my clients through the process.

The kids actually said to their parents, "Wow, that was so short (1.5hrs!) do we have to stop?" The mother replied, "Time flies when you're having fun."

This was the biggest compliment ever!!

Did you ever get tongue tied when meeting someone great?

That's what happened to me when I entered the home of legendary historian and author,
Rabbi Berel Wein.
A humble scholar, I actually felt really at home when I stepped into his Jerusalem abode.
I told him that it somehow reminded me of my parents' house, my mom's style a''h.
That put me at ease.

When you have an open audience with someone so learned, what do you ask?
Well, being a mom, I naturally said, how would you recommend I deal with this child?
He let me rant on about the issues we were having until I came to the answer myself.
"I guess I just have to have a lot of patience".
He reiterated, yes, raising children requires a lot of patience.

Rabbi Wein taught me a lot in the short time we had together.
Say little, but speak meaningfully.
Give people space to share, listen attentively, believe in them, and they may just discover the answer themselves!

You watched the BTS (behind the scenes) video in the last post, and here's the subject himself, Gadi Last - financial planner.

A great person to work with, this photoshoot was such a pleasure. Driving out to Yad Binyamin was beautiful. I really miss the suburbs I have to say!

This photoshoot was a pleasure. Gadi was easy-going and a great host. Not everyone offers me a fresh made coffee or tea. I felt like he was hosting me, not hiring me.

That's the feeling you get with Gadi. He just takes care of you. And with your finances, you wany to feel secure that your investment planner has your best interest in mind.
Gadi is giving of his time. But most of all, he is knowledgeable, diligent and thorough about his research so your money goes where it needs to go.

Yesterday I had the privelege of joining a solidarity mission from the US.
We met the parents of Omer in Kikar haChatufim in Tel Aviv. His mother Shelly described that she visited Jerusalem for her 51st birthday.
She looked up to shamayim and said thank you for everything I have.
The next day her son was kidnapped to Gaza.
He had shared his location in Whatsapp and they were following it until he arrived in Gaza.
The strength of this woman and confidence in him returning was infectious.
We daven for his safety and speedy return home.

I always look for the story in every event I photograph.

Many people don't like being on camera, especially a bar mitzvah boy about to become a man.

It's especially easy to be a fly on the wall at such an event when I'm on the other side of the mechitza at a boy's bar mitzvah at the Kotel.

Some people wonder, but how will you capture everything?

For me it’s an advantage because I'm not in his face.
It’s about seeing things from his mother's perspective.
It’s about giving him his space.
And capturing those special moments while allowing him to have that spiritual experience he came for, rather than being his annoying paparazzi.

Then all that’s left is to let the story unfold in front of the lens.

HOW TO GET A SELFIE PROFILE SHOT:

1. Make a marketing strategy.
2. Decide if you want a studio headshot or a more lifestyle shot in a real setting.
3. Decide on props to bring with you - purchase if need be.
4. Decide if you want more lifestyle candid shots of you at work or you looking at the camera.
5. Scout a location.
6. Consider natural light in the location and what time is best to photograph there.
7. If the weather doesn’t permit outdoors, find an indoor location.
8. Get permission to use the indoor location.
9. Find a nice background indoors that’s next to a window.
10. Plan your wardrobe (at least 2/3 outfits).
11. Do your makeup up WOW!
12. Show up to your location in advance to find just the right spot.
13. Find a friend to help pose you and tell you when there’s something in your teeth.
14. Try incessantly to schedule with that friend.
15. Give up and do it yourself.
16. Try not to pose too much and catch yourself unawares.
17. Laugh at the camera as silently as possible so people don’t think you’re nuts. After all, a natural smile takes a lot of work!
18. Find the best angle and position to make you look the most flattering.
19. Find a tripod and set it at that specific angle.
20. Don’t get annoyed at your dumb phone for not taking the photos you envisioned.
21. Slap a filter on that selfie, and call it a day!

Tired of not getting the perfect shot? Let me take care of the planning, prep and ex*****on, so you can focus on your business!

Remember, a great profile picture is an investment in your personal and professional brand. Taking the time to get it right is well worth the effort.
