I haven’t posted here for quite a while…. But I’ve decided to jump in on the 14 swims of April, in aid of Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland….
I’m aiming to do 14 sea swims, of at least 1.3k per swim, so a (minimum) total of 18k (and a bit)..

It's been a while since I've posted with any kind of consistency. The social media break has been great, and I'm excited to get going again. The time away gave me some time to reflect, consider and make some plans and in doing so I did some looking back over past work, so that I can look forward to posting new work...... I'm looking forward to sharing.

Remember tapes..
Remember opening the flip box and sliding the cassette out, opening your walkman door and popping the cassette into the groove that perfectly fit its form. Remember the snap of the walkman as it closed and the clunk of the play button, and hiss in your ear just before the music blasted through. Remember removing the album sleeve from the box and unfolding it. Remember studying the album art work, reading through all the lyrics, and seeing the familiar names of the producers and engineers…. and remember the dreaded sound as your walkman ate your tape.. and the fun that was had trying to uncoil the tape from the play heads and wind it back into the cassette without creasing it, and the sense of pride when you did it successfully…. Nostalgia….

A shiny thing in a run down place… This abandoned Bugatti shoot turned out, not only different to how in envisioned it but also better….. sometimes ideas evolve in the midst of a project…. and that ok!!
Techy stuff…. Built the set… 4 light set up.. Main on front of car (through the two walls), one over head for a bit of fill, one snooted light for side of car, and one on background (behind back wall).. I took a base image (no fog), then a pile of images highlighting different areas of the car, then another pile of images while firing fog… Threw all the images into photoshop and masked in / out the bits of the images I wanted / didn’t want.. bit of colour grading, sharpening … and done.. Simples!!! 😀

I need new boots!

The shape, form and precision in manufacturing these pieces made it a pleasure work on this shoot for Minerva Surgical, Inc. ….

Wired or Wireless? What’s your preference??
In the quest for continued learning I’m a subscriber to the education platform (there’s always golden nuggets of info there)…. While researching for another shoot I came across his tutorial for shooting headphones, in which similar principles would apply to the shoot I was researching.. so I thought I’d give this headphone shot a go, in prep for the actual shoot (and also for fun)..

Orange… one of my favourite colours… I recently picked up some new light gels from so I thought I’d go nuts and test them out on this trainer….
Test shooting is a crucial part of my work.. It gives me a chance to practice and hone my skills in both photography and retouching.. I TRY to pencil in one shoot per week where this is the sole focus.. Pretty happy with the result here…. But I think it needs a bit more orange!!!! 😜
