How to extract audio from any video on your iPhone using Shortcuts 📲

I’m using iOS 26 on an iPhone 15 Plus, but this works on most models if you don’t already have the feature built in…

The audio in this video wasn’t done with fancy equipment, it was done at my kitchen table with wired headphones - so a great way to get good audio on the go 👌

Step-by-Step;

1. Open the Shortcuts App & tap +
2. Rename it “Extract Audio”
3. Search for “Encode Media” ➔ Select it ➔ Tap the arrow and toggle on “Audio Only.” (Keep format as M4A for the best quality/size balance)
4. Tap the “i” icon at the bottom ➔ Toggle on “Show in Share Sheet.”
5. Tap “Apps and…” at the top ➔ Tap “Clear” ➔ Select ONLY “Media.”
6. Search for “Save File” and select “Ask Where to Save”
How to use it: Go to any video in your Photos App ➔ Tap the Share icon ➔ Scroll down and tap “Extract Audio”

📁 Pick your folder, and you’re done!

💡 Tip: Create a dedicated “Audio Clips” folder in your Files app to keep your new files organised 📂
