'SAID THE DEAD'
A live reading by Doireann Ní Ghríofa with music by Linda Buckley followed by a conversation with Rick O'Shea.
In Cork city a derelict mental hospital is being converted into modern apartments. The book reconstructs the lives of forgotten 19th and early 20th century female patients and staff at Our Lady's Cork Mental Hospital. The blending of electronic sound, flute and voice with the hypnotic lament like reading made this a truly memorable experience at Tullamore Park.

LIVING LIVES: A BIOGRAPHER'S JOURNEY
Our annual cruise aboard the Cruise on the Ku-ee-tu with festival friends Teddy and Edel Knight in the company of Anne Chambers and Nathan O'Donnell took place on Sunday morning last. The stillness of the lake, the calm and quiet created the perfect backdrop for this absolutely extraordinary and wonderful recall of the history of Grace O’Malley, Ireland’s Pirate Queen. Anne has also written about the lives of T.K Whittaker and Eleanor, Countess of Desmond.
No stranger to DNLF, Nathan O’Donnell conducted a brilliant interview with Anne who reminded us that history can only truly come to life when we study the actual ground roots of the people who made a difference in their time and to ours no matter how. Anne has a rare quality of bringing her characters to life!

Ladies Wednesday Social Tennis.
Lovely event at the club this morning when the Wednesday morning ladies both past and present gathered to honour Marian Whelan who, for over 20 years has organised these social gatherings. President George McGrath and committee member Margaret Folan made a presentation to Marian on behalf of the management committee. Mary Walsh, who has been part of the ladies social tennis since its inception 36 years ago made a presentation to Marian on behalf of the ladies group.
Both George and Mary acknowledged the importance of volunteers in making the club a great place for all to enjoy.
Presentations were also made to Suaimhneas Cancer Support Centre and Nenagh Special Summer Camp from monies collected by the Wednesday morning ladies.
Tea and cake were then enjoyed by all, thanks to everyone involved in organising and attending.
