I love to visit people in their own homes. I find the kids and parents are much more relaxed. We also have the added advantage of taking breaks and outfit changes. The session usually takes place in the family home however some parents choose an outdoor location such as a park, beach or garden instead. If the session is taking place in the home I do not require any specific conditions or set up.
I avoid using studio lighting so I can work in smaller areas. However, I always bring a studio style backdrop that I can set up quickly and easily so that we can eliminate distractions from the background if needed. I aim to capture a moment in time and a picture of family life that often floats by unnoticed. I think everyday interactions, expressions and events are beautiful.
