Cruinniú na mBád "the gathering of the boats."- Kinvara , where this beautiful gathering of boats happen sit at the edge of the Burren, which is limestone. There is essentially no bog here, so turf — the main household fuel before coal and oil — had to be imported, while barley, lime and timber went out. Dunguaire Castle you see in this video was built around 1520 by the O'Hynes (Ó hEidhin) clan, chiefs of the district around Kinvara and of Uí Fiachrach Aidhne, the territory between the Burren and Galway Bay.
