A year ago Nina Goks - Kent & London Family Maternity Newborn Photographer spoke at an event in Ireland, where she draws how she draws her inspiration from cinema and art and something in my heart just skipped a beat; I felt so strongly how it ignited a bit in my soul that I had been forgotten a long time ago. Or had had not had time to think about in a forever 😌
From then on I’ve been looking at so many art books from my favourite painters, visited galleries, looked at cinematography in films and series, learned about colour grading and slowly I feel like it shifted something in me there and then changed (for the better).
When Nina and Bristol Family Photographer | Aimee Laoise announced their retreat in Dartmoor last Feb for the autumn, I just knew I needed to go to see if I can challenge myself more.
And my goodness did this particular night challenge us all 😌✨ By this stage of the evening the heavy fog had set at the moors that we could barely see ahead. The light was vanishing quickly, but it added all the more drama.
Our model Meg Ward and her partner were incredible, the scenery unbelievable and with these images I wanted to keep that grainy cinematic look as I just so happened to see the new Sense and Sensibility two nights ago, which was shot in these landscapes.
Anyway, very different from my baby photoshoots, but gaining some perspective has given me so much to all my work 🤍🤍🤍
